About this vaporizer

The PAX Flow from PAX Labs is the Californian brand's latest portable vaporizer and uses pure convection with a draw sensor. Instead of pressing a button, the device is simply activated by inhaling -- on demand, with no wait for a heat-up button. At just 90 grams, with USB-C charging and around 90 minutes of battery life, the Flow is aimed at users looking for a straightforward everyday vaporizer.

Convection Heating and Draw Sensor

The PAX Flow uses pure convection. Hot air passes through the herb in the stainless steel chamber instead of heating the chamber directly. The result is more even extraction and a cleaner flavour profile than with conduction devices.

The draw sensor starts the heating automatically when you inhale on the mouthpiece – no button, no preheating. Heat-up time is around 20 seconds. Between draws, the heater switches off, which saves material. This on-demand principle fundamentally sets the Flow apart from older PAX models such as the PAX Plus or PAX 3, which used session-based conduction.

If you prefer short single draws, you benefit more from the convection principle than session users. The vapour tastes fresher and the plant material is used more evenly.

Design, Battery and Charging Time

At around 90 g, the PAX Flow is one of the lightest portable vaporizers on the market. The brushed aluminium housing feels good in the hand and fits into any trouser pocket. Build quality is typically PAX: matte, minimalist, with no unnecessary elements.

According to PAX, the battery lasts around 90 minutes. In practice, 8–12 sessions are realistic depending on temperature and draw frequency. Charging is via USB-C in 60–90 minutes.

Status information is handled by an LED ring on the front. It shows temperature selection, battery charge level and operating status. There is also haptic feedback (vibration) when the device is ready for use or the temperature changes.

Temperature Presets and App

The device offers 4 temperature levels:

Level 1 (182 °C): Flavour-rich, light vapour – ideal for starting out.
Level 2 (193 °C): Balanced, good vapour production.
Level 3 (204 °C): Dense vapour, stronger extraction.
Level 4 (215 °C): Maximum vapour production.

Via the PAX App (iOS/Android, Bluetooth LE), you can check the battery charge level and install firmware updates. The app is optional – the Flow works fully without it.

Chamber and Half-Pack Oven Lid

The stainless steel chamber holds around 0.3 g of dried herb. Stainless steel is durable, easy to clean and neutral in flavour during convection use.

A half-pack oven lid is included, reducing capacity to around 0.15 g. For solo sessions with less material, this is the better choice: extraction becomes more efficient, vapour denser, and less leftover herb remains.

Lip-Sensing Technology detects when you inhale and adjusts the heating accordingly. Result: no unnecessary energy use between draws.

How Do I Clean and Maintain My Vaporizer?

After each session, brush out the chamber with the included brush while the oven is still warm. This prevents build-up.

Once a week: remove the mouthpiece and run an isopropanol-soaked pipe cleaner (90 %+) through the vapour path. Replace the screen when needed. The PAX Flow is low-maintenance – convection devices get dirty more slowly than conduction devices because the herb does not sit directly on the heating element.

No. The PAX Flow is draw-activated. You inhale on the mouthpiece and the convection heater starts automatically. The temperature level is changed by a short shake or via the app.

How quickly does the PAX Flow heat up? +

About 20 seconds. Because the heater starts with every draw (on demand), no preheating in the traditional sense is needed.

What temperatures does the PAX Flow offer? +

4 presets: 182, 193, 204 and 215 degrees C. There is no stepless adjustment, but the 4 levels cover the usual range well.

How long does the PAX Flow battery last? +

PAX states around 90 minutes of use. Depending on temperature and draw frequency, 8-12 sessions are possible. Charging is via USB-C.

What is the half-pack oven lid? +

An included lid that halves the chamber volume (from about 0.3 g to 0.15 g). Ideal for shorter sessions with less material.

Is there an app for the PAX Flow? +

Yes. The PAX App (iOS/Android, Bluetooth LE) shows battery charge level, enables firmware updates and offers additional settings.
