The cordless heater head: how a session runs

The first-generation titanium head holds 520 gem-cut rubies of 3 mm each, according to the maker. They work as a heat store: incoming air picks up their energy during the draw and passes it to the material, with no heating element ever touching the herb.
The head has two usable sides, and the choice shapes the session:
- Injector side — hot air is pushed into the bowl from above. Pure convection, flavour takes the lead.
- Diffuser side — the bowl is warmed from the outside as well. Convection plus conduction gives denser, heavier vapour.
A titanium Matrix bowl is included, holding around 0.4 g, with male glass joints in 14.4 and 18.8 mm. That fits the WOHW to most water pieces — none is supplied. The head also takes the glass injector bowl and the microdose diffuser bowl from the Thermal Twist line.
PID control: what the displayed number means
Temperature is set on the supplied Classic PID controller in 1 °F steps. CrossingTech names 535 °F, about 279 °C, as the starting point; in practice most users work between roughly 279 and 345 °C.
That number describes the target at the coil and the head — not the temperature reaching the herb. During the draw, room air passes through the rubies, the head gives up heat, and the bowl takes further energy out of the stream. The actual extraction temperature therefore sits well below the value you dialled in.
A practical rule follows: comparing the figure directly against a vaporizer that measures chamber temperature will mislead you. Start at the recommended value and adjust by taste.
WOHW V1 or V2? The differences in detail
Both generations share the handling concept, the PID controller, the 25 mm barrel coil, the titanium Matrix bowl and the double-sided head. The V2 is not a new design but a reworked heater head.

The V1 uses 520 gem-cut rubies, the V2 round ruby balls in an enlarged chamber — which frees up airflow and stretches each heat-up. The V2 also adds adapters for third-party 22 mm bowls, an XL coil and a choice between SS316 and titanium. The V2 has no battery either.
The supplied titanium Matrix bowl with 14.4 and 18.8 mm male joints and roughly 0.4 g capacity, plus the glass injector bowl and the microdose diffuser bowl from the Thermal Twist line. Bowls with a 22 mm fitment only work from the V2 onwards.
