What the V2 changes in the heater head
The most important difference is inside the head. The V1 uses 520 faceted rubies measuring 3 mm each, while the V2 uses round ruby balls. Round balls pack more loosely than faceted stones, resulting in freer airflow.
There are two stated quantities: the manufacturer, dampfklar and Cannabis Hardware specify 280 balls measuring 3 mm each, while British specialist retailers and Herbware specify 490 balls measuring 2.5 mm each. Mathematically, both produce almost the same fill volume of approximately 7.6 cm³, suggesting two production batches. The manufacturer's specification is authoritative.
There is also an enlarged ruby chamber. It stores more energy, allowing the head to remain at temperature for longer: for most users, one heating cycle is enough to extract a bowl completely before the head must be returned to the coil for 30 to 60 seconds. Heating still uses a 25-mm coil — an axial coil on the V1, a barrel coil in the XL version on the V2.
Diffuser adapter: using bowls from other manufacturers
The V1 was limited to its own accessories. The V2 comes with a pre-installed 21.15-mm diffuser adapter for the included Matrix Bowl, as well as an additional 22.15-mm adapter ring.
The ring makes the head compatible with diffuser bowls featuring a 22-mm fitting, such as those offered by Cannabis Hardware, Universal Baller and O’Connell Woodworks. Anyone who already owns glassware from these systems can continue using it instead of building up a second bowl collection.
The water-filter connections remain unchanged: the Titanium Matrix Bowl comes with male glass joints in 14.4 and 18.8 mm, with the 14.4-mm joint installed at the factory. A water filter is not included. CrossingTech has also improved the screen accessories: alongside two flat mesh screens, the kit includes a height-adjustable screen basket, allowing the load size to be adapted for smaller doses.
SS316 or titanium: which heater head suits you?
Unlike the V1, which was supplied with a titanium head, the V2 is available in two materials. The difference is small but noticeable in everyday use:
- SS316 stainless steel — greater mass and higher heat retention. The vapor feels denser and smoother, making large draws easier. However, the head takes slightly longer to reheat.
- Titanium (CP2) — lighter, reheats more quickly and renders flavors more distinctly. Those who prioritize terpenes are more likely to choose this option.
According to the consistent assessment of retailers, both versions deliver good flavor; the differences are nuances rather than a difference in class. Stainless steel is preferable for its heat reserve during long draws, while titanium is preferable for flavor and rapid reheating.

V1 versus V2: is it worth upgrading?
The V2 is a revision, not a new device. Both generations use the same Classic PID Controller, the same operating method and the same Titanium Matrix Bowl.

Upgrading is particularly worthwhile for two groups: users who want longer draws without reheating and anyone who already owns 22-mm glassware. Those who own a V1 and need neither lose little by staying with it — the WOHW V1 remains a fully capable ball vape.
