Short version: The Crafty+ from Storz & Bickel is the most compact portable vaporizer from the German manufacturer. Hybrid heating, USB-C, app control, dosing capsules, 40-210°C. Currently from ~139 EUR at around 140 shops worldwide. If you want the vapor quality of the Mighty+ but need a smaller device – the Crafty+ delivers exactly that. With a well-known compromise in the battery.
Erster Eindruck: Kleiner als gedacht
Anyone who knows the Mighty+ and holds the Crafty+ in their hand for the first time will be surprised. Das Ding ist wirklich klein. 135 grams, about the size of a pack of cigarettes. You quickly forget that there is a full-fledged hybrid vaporizer from Storz & Bickel is in it.
The surface is made of the same heat-resistant plastic as the Mighty+. Ribbed, easy to grip, doesn’t slip out of your hand. Instead of a display, there is only a single LED that shows the status using colors. Green means ready, red means heating up. Minimalist. Some people like that, others miss the precise temperature display.
In the box: the Crafty+ itself, a USB-C cable, a set of sealing rings, the cleaning brush, three dosing capsules. Storz & Bickel just – no frills, everything you need and nothing you don’t need. A charger is not included. Any USB-C power supply from 10 watts works.
The workmanship is impeccable. No gaps, nothing creaks, everything fits. The mouthpiece clicks into place and the rotating mechanism on the filling chamber lid runs as smoothly as butter. You notice the 25 years of experience that Storz & Bickel has evaporators. No comparison to the many Chinese portables under 80 EUR where some plastic part breaks after three months.
Crafty vs. Crafty+: What has changed?
The original Crafty was released in 2014, along with the Mighty. While the Mighty was the flagship, the Crafty was the handy alternative. Same vapor quality, less battery, no display.
2020 brought Storz & Break out the Crafty+. The changes in detail:
- USB-C instead of Micro-USB — faster charging, standard cable. The old Crafty sometimes took over three hours to charge. The Crafty+ can do this in just under 90 minutes.
- 20% more battery – from around 1100 mAh to around 1300 mAh. It doesn’t sound like much, but it provides one or two additional sessions per charge.
- Ceramic-coated filling chamber — smoother, easier to clean, slightly better taste at low temperatures. The material no longer sticks to the walls.
- Improved LED — the colors are now easier to read, even in sunlight. With the old Crafty you sometimes had to guess outside whether the thing was ready.
What has remained the same: the basic shape. The cooling system. The heating system. Compatibility with dosing capsules and Mighty accessories. Storz & Bickel retained the basis and made improvements where there were weak points.
For owners of the original Crafty, the upgrade makes sense – especially because of USB-C and the longer battery life. If you only use the old Crafty occasionally and are satisfied, you don’t have to buy it straight away.
Vapor Quality: Same core as the Mighty+
Hier wird es spannend. Because the Crafty+ uses exactly the same hybrid heating technology as its big brother. Konvektion und Konduktion arbeiten zusammen. Hot air flows through the herbs and the chamber wall simultaneously releases contact heat. The result: even, dense vapor without hotspots.
Anyone who knows a Mighty+ will recognize the steam of the Crafty+. There is no noticeable difference in taste. The chamber sizes are almost identical, the cooling system works on the same principle – the CU (Cooling Unit) in the mouthpiece guides the vapor through a labyrinth of fins and cools it down.
At 180°C you can taste the terpenes clearly. Fruity, earthy, herbaceous – depending on the material. The vapor is light and flavorful. At 190°C it becomes denser and the clouds become larger. The Crafty+ extracts intensively at 200°C and above. Full of steam, noticeable effect. 210°C is the maximum – works, but doesn’t taste as fine anymore.
The Crafty+ does not require any special pulling technology. Fill the chamber, switch it on, wait, pull. Whether slow or fast, whether the chamber is half or completely full – steam comes out. No comparison to convection devices like the TinyMight, where the pulling technique is crucial. This makes the Crafty+ beginner-friendly without experienced users having to compromise on quality.
Taste throughout the session
What distinguishes the Crafty+ from cheaper conduction vaporizers: The quality remains constant throughout the entire session. The first three moves are just as good as move number eight. With 80 EUR devices, the taste drops noticeably halfway through. Not with the Crafty+.
A typical session for me lasts five to seven minutes. After ten to twelve pulls the chamber is through. The evaporated material is uniformly brown — a good sign of complete extraction. No black border, no green spots in the middle.
The battery: honest about the biggest weakness
Let’s talk about the elephant in the room. The Crafty+ has a battery of around 3200 mAh. The Mighty+ has 3200 mAh. That’s double the value. And yes, you can tell.
In everyday life, I get four to five sessions from the Crafty+ on one charge. Sometimes six if I stay at lower temperatures. At 200°C and above it is more like three to four. That’s enough for an evening, for a trip, for a few hours. But not for a whole day on the road.
The r/vaporents community on Reddit brings this up regularly. The most common criticism of the Crafty+ is the battery. “Great vaporizer, terrible battery” is what you read there again and again. And that’s not unfair.
But – and this is a big but – the Crafty+ does not have passthrough charging (the Mighty+ does). You can vape while the device is hanging from the cable. If you mainly use the Crafty+ at home on the sofa or at your desk, simply plug it in afterwards. Then the battery is no longer an issue.
USB-C charges the Crafty+ from empty to full in just under 90 minutes. That’s okay, but not record-breaking. However, a quick charge in between will quickly provide enough juice for one or two sessions. Ten minutes on the cable, one session in there. This works.
Long-term battery health
The battery is permanently installed. No removable battery, no easy swap. After 300 to 500 charging cycles – i.e. one to two years of daily use – the capacity decreases. This is the case with all Li-Ion batteries, not a Crafty-specific problem.
What helps: Don’t drive completely empty every time. Do not leave it on the charger overnight if it is already full. And at temperatures below 5°C, don’t leave the Crafty+ in your cold jacket pocket – cold kills Li-ion cells faster than anything else.
If the battery is really worn out after three or four years, there are repair services in Germany that will replace the battery. Costs between 40 and 70 EUR. Justifiable for a device in this price range.
My honest assessment: Anyone who uses the Crafty+ as their main device on the go and vapes a lot – more than five sessions a day – will not be happy with the battery. Anyone who uses it as a compact second device or mainly vapes at home will LIVE well with it. The battery is a compromise you make for the size. Whether this is worth it depends on your own usage behavior.
The app: Why the Crafty+ needs it
The Mighty+ has a display with Plus and minus buttons. Set the temperature and you’re done. This display is missing on the Crafty+. Instead you have an LED and two preset temperatures: 180°C and 195°C (Boost).
Do you want a different temperature? Then you need the Storz & Bickel app. It is available for iOS and Android and connects to the Crafty+.
via Bluetooth
In the app you can:
- Set the temperature in 1°C increments (40–210°C)
- Change the two preset temperature levels
- Adjust the boost temperature
- Read the battery level accurately (not just green/yellow/red)
- See the operating hours and firmware version
- Turn vibration feedback on or off
The app works well. The connection is established in two seconds and the settings are applied immediately. No crashes, no frustration. Storz & Bickel has improved the app over the years – there used to be Bluetooth problems, but those have been history since 2023.
Nevertheless: you need an app to freely adjust the temperature. This generally annoys some people. Understandable. With the Mighty+ you simply turn the buttons. With the Crafty+ you have to take out your cell phone, open the app, connect and set up. After setting it up for the first time, you rarely use the app – most people set their two desired temperatures once and then leave them like that. But anyone who rejects the app in principle won’t warm up to it.
A note: The Google Play version of the app was temporarily unavailable because Google kicked vaporizer apps out of the store. Storz & Bickel offers the APK file for download on its own website. Works, but is an extra step for Android users.
dosing capsules: The Crafty+ loves them
The dosing capsules from Storz & Bickels are small aluminum capsules that are filled with material in advance. Put the capsule in the chamber, steam, take the capsule out. The chamber stays clean, no crumbs, no scrubbing.
With the Crafty+, dosing capsules make even more sense than with the Mighty+. Because the device is so compact, people use it more often on the go. And no one wants to fumble loose herbs from a bag into a small chamber while on the go. Prepare the capsules, take them with you, insert them, done. Three handles.
What else the capsules bring:
- Cleanliness: The chamber only needs to be cleaned every 25-30 sessions instead of every 5 sessions. For a small device that you use frequently, this saves time.
- Dosage: Each capsule holds approximately 0.15 grams. Even portions, reproducible results.
- Discretion: Capsule in, vape, capsule out. No refills in public.
- Speed: Capsule change takes five seconds. Next session can start immediately.
There are capsule magazines with eight pre-loaded capsules in rotary format. Fits in your pocket, costs around 15 EUR. Belongs to the accessories that you get anyway after two weeks.
A small disadvantage: With a capsule, the chamber volume is minimally reduced. Without a capsule, a little more material fits in. For most users the difference is negligible, but if you value maximum capacity, you can vape directly in the chamber.
Crafty+ vs. Mighty+: When is which one worth it?
The question comes up in every vaporizer forum in the world. Both devices use the same heating, the same cooling system, and the same dosing capsules. The vapor is almost identical. The differences lie elsewhere.
| Property | Crafty+ | Mighty+ |
|---|---|---|
| Weight | 135 g | 247 g |
| Abattery | ~1300mAh | ~2600mAh |
| Display | LED (colors) | OLED (Temperatur) |
| Temp-Einstellung | App + 2 levels | Buttons on the device |
| Sessions per charge | 4–6 | 8-10 |
| Steam quality | identical | identical |
| Price from | ~139 EUR | ~158 EUR |
My rule of thumb: Crafty+ if portability is a priority. Mighty+ when battery is more important than size. If you mainly use the device at home, you should choose the Mighty+. If you want to put it in your jacket pocket, go to the Crafty+.
The price difference of around EUR 20 will be so small in 2026 that it will hardly play a role anymore. The decision really just depends on the question: size or battery?
On the go: Where the Crafty+ shines
This is where the Crafty+ shows its strengths. 135 grams in your jacket pocket – you forget it’s there. It also fits in a jeans pocket, although a bit tight. It disappears completely in a handbag or small backpack.
The heating time is around 60 seconds. Not lightning fast like a Tinymight (5 seconds), but absolutely okay for a session vaporizer. Switch on, wait 60 seconds, the LED turns green, off you go. On a park bench, on the balcony, while hiking.
The Crafty+ vibrates when it has reached the set temperature. This is practical when you’re on the go – you don’t have to constantly look at the LED. Cell phone in your pocket, Crafty+ in your hand, it vibrates, you’re vaping. Discreet and uncomplicated.
What I appreciate about the Crafty+ on the go: It smells less than its big brother. This is due to the smaller surface area. The smell is still there — no vaporizer is odorless — but it’s less noticeable. When transported in a protective cover or a small zip bag, there is almost no smell from the outside.
The robustness is also right. I dropped the Crafty+ off the table twice. Once on tiles, once on asphalt. Both times just a small scratch on the casing. Functionally zero restrictions. Storz & Bickel builds the devices for everyday use, not for the showcase.
Water Filter Compatibility
Yes, the Crafty+ works with bongs and water filters. There are glass adapters for under 10 EUR that fit the mouthpiece. The steam is filtered through water and arrives cooler and smoother. This makes a big difference, especially at higher temperatures above 200°C.
Not necessarily an on-the-go feature. But if you connect the Crafty+ to a small bong at home, you will get a vapor quality that is close to that of desktop devices. The combination of hybrid heating, CU cooling and water filtration is hard to beat.
Cleaning: Uncomplicated, but necessary regularly
Cleaning the Crafty+ is easy. And yet many people let them slide until the air resistance becomes unbearable. Don’t imitate.
Sweep out the chamber after each session with the brush provided – this takes ten seconds. Once a week or every ten sessions, disassemble the cooling unit (mouthpiece) and place it in isopropyl alcohol. Soak for ten minutes, rinse with warm water, let dry. That’s it.
What you need:
- Isopropyl alcohol (99%, available in every pharmacy)
- The enclosed brush
- Cotton swab for the
- A small jar for soaking
chamber
The CU consists of several parts: top part, sieve, sealing rings, mouthpiece. Everything can be dismantled without tools. Storz & Bickel even has instructional videos for it on YouTube. Each individual part is available as a spare part – if a sieve is clogged or a sealing ring becomes porous, you can order a replacement for a few euros.
A tip that saves me a lot of cleaning work: After the last session, heat the Crafty+ to 210°C and blow out the steam before turning it off. This burns remaining particles and loosens resin deposits. Makes the next cleaning easier.
dosage capsule users generally have it easier. The chamber stays cleaner, the CU lasts longer. Another argument per capsules.
Price development
The Crafty+ cost just under 280 EUR when it was launched on the market in 2020. The price has fallen continuously since 2024 because Storz & Bickel has a newer model in its range with the Venty. In 2026, the cheapest price is around 139 EUR — less than half the original price.
Die Preisschwankungen sind moderat. Before Black Friday, on 4/20 and before Christmas there are always offers where individual shops go for less than 130 EUR. Between sales, the price remains relatively stable in the range of 139-169 EUR, depending on the shop and country.
The current price trend over the last 30 days is shown in this chart:

Conclusion: The best compromise in 2026
The Crafty+ is not a perfect vaporizer. It doesn’t exist. It has a small battery, no display and requires an app to set the temperature. These are real disadvantages that should not be glossed over.
But what he can do, he can do really well. The vapor quality is at Mighty+ level – so first class. The hybrid heater delivers consistent, flavorful vapor at any temperature. Dosage capsules work perfectly. The cooling system keeps the vapor comfortable. And all of this in a housing that weighs 135 grams and fits in any jacket pocket.
Who is the Crafty+ the right purchase for?
- People who want a portable vaporizer that’s small enough to actually take with you. The Mighty+ is good, but it’s also big. Den Crafty+ nimmt man tatsächlich mit.
- Beginners looking for a reliable device. Zero learning curve, good vapor from the first puff. Mistakes will be forgiven.
- People who already know the Mighty+ and want a second device for on the go. Same capsules, same accessories, same vapor. Just smaller.
- Price-conscious buyers. From 139 EUR you get Storz & Bickel quality. Das war vor drei Jahren noch unmöglich.
When should you buy something else instead?
- If you want to vape all day without recharging: Mighty+
- If you need a replaceable battery: TinyMight 2 or Arizer Solo 3
- If you don’t want an app: Mighty+ or XMAX V3 Pro
- If you want to stay under 80 EUR: XMAX V3 Pro or Fenix Mini Pro
- If you need fast on-demand: TinyMight 2 or DynaVap
The Crafty+ is “the little mighty”. Same steam quality, same reliability, same workmanship – just in a housing that’s half as heavy. The battery compromise is consciously accepted. And at the price it costs in 2026, it is one of the best offers in the entire vaporizer market.
Storz & Bickel has not built a revolutionary device with the Crafty+. They didn’t have to. They’ve built a reliable, no-fuss vaporizer that works. Day after day, session after session. And after six years on the market, with thousands of satisfied users worldwide, the Crafty+ has earned its place.
