Induction Instead of Flame: How It Works
A coil inside generates a high-frequency magnetic field. When you hold a ferromagnetic tip inside it, the field induces eddy currents directly in the metal. The metal heats itself from within — not from the outside via a flame. The heat is therefore generated all around, rather than unevenly as with a lighter.
This has two practical consequences: no combustion gases reach the herb, and the result is repeatable. With the same tip and the same wattage and seconds settings, the YLL 3.0 heats very consistently. With a flame you sometimes hit the spot and sometimes you don't — with induction you set it once and get the same result every time. How quickly a tip heats up depends, according to YLLVape, on the material and wall thickness of the cap as well.
Source: Contactless, fast, and repeatable heating via electromagnetic induction is described by YLLVape on the YLLVape homepage.
30 to 100 Watts: Adjusting Power and Heating Duration
The YLL 3.0 can be adjusted from 30 to 100 watts, along with the heating duration in seconds. Both values are shown on the display. Lower wattage heats more slowly and gently — ideal for flavor-focused draws. Higher wattage brings the tip up to temperature more quickly, suited to dense vapor in a single draw.
The maximum of 100 watts is the main reason to choose the YLL 3.0 over the smaller YLL 2.0 (30 to 60 watts): larger tips and thicker caps require more energy to heat through quickly. Those using standard DynaVap tips will typically operate in the mid-range; the headroom above is there for larger tips and faster sessions.
Source: The power range of 30 to 100 watts is stated by YLLVape on the product page for the YLL IH 3.0.
Depth-Adjustable Heating Chamber and Spacers
The heating chamber of the YLL 3.0 is depth-adjustable. Using the ceramic insert, you can set how deep the tip sits within the coil; two ceramic inserts are included, with additional ones available as spare parts. The ideal position is one where the hot section of the tip sits in the center of the magnetic field. If it sits too deep or too shallow, it will heat unevenly.
To allow a DynaVap to sit straight and stable in the chamber, YLLVape also offers a silicone adapter. This adjustability sets the YLL 3.0 apart from simpler heaters with a fixed chamber depth; according to the manufacturer, its larger coil makes it compatible with more devices. For the TEMPEST 2, MAD Heaters includes a 3 mm spacer that sits beneath the ceramic insert (details below).
Source: The depth-adjustable heating chamber, the larger coil, and the two included ceramic inserts are stated on the product page for the YLL IH 3.0.
Dual 21700 Batteries: Power and Runtime
The YLL 3.0 runs on two 21700 batteries, which are not included. Compared to the YLL 2.0, which uses two 18650 cells, YLLVape cites a larger battery capacity and longer sessions with less frequent battery changes.
Charging is via USB-C, with a cable included. Alternatively, you can charge the cells externally in a separate charger. Those with two sets of batteries can simply swap them out on the go and be ready to use immediately — an advantage of the replaceable design over built-in batteries.
Source: The dual 21700 configuration without included batteries and the larger battery capacity compared to the 2.0 are stated on the product page for the YLL IH 3.0.
Which 21700 Batteries Are Compatible
The YLL 3.0 requires high-drain 21700 cells, as up to 100 watts draws briefly high currents. YLLVape recommends:
- Molicel P42A (INR-21700-P42A, 4,200 mAh, 45 A, Flat Top).
Important: use cells with a flat positive terminal (Flat Top), as per the manufacturer's recommendation. Both cells should be the same model, same state of charge, and same age — mixed batteries place greater strain on one cell and shorten its lifespan. Cheap no-name cells without a stated current rating have no place in a high-performance device.
Source: The battery recommendation Molicel INR-21700-P42A (45 A, 4,200 mAh, Flat Top) is stated on the product page for the YLL IH 3.0.
180° Flip Display and Controls
The display shows the two values you actually adjust: watts and seconds. You select the power level, set the heating time, and start the heating cycle.
A handy feature is the 180° flip: the display can be rotated so you can read it the right way up regardless of which hand you hold the YLL in or which way round you hold it. This is particularly convenient when operating with one hand.
Source: The 180°-rotatable display is listed in the feature list on the product page for the YLL IH 3.0.
Heating Times by Material and Power
Ball materials for Tempest 2 and Tempest 2 Slim
The manual lists five ball materials for approx. 40 balls of 3 mm. Borosilicate is not included. Fill weights are approximate values.

Manufacturer settings by heating cap material
Settings apply from room temperature. With a warm heating cap, reduce the YLL-3.0 timer by 8–12 seconds and maintain the wattage. Wand values control the timer, not the actual temperature. They apply with the V3 adapter until timeout.

Glass Chamber, Timer and Safety
The replaceable glass chamber encloses the tip within the coil and can easily be swapped out if broken or dirty; two glass tubes are included. The ceramic insert lets you adjust the depth as described above.
You set the heating time using the timer; YLLVape does not mention an automatic shut-off on the product page. Do not leave the device heating unattended. As with any device using lithium cells, the usual rules apply: use quality batteries, do not store the device in a hot car, and discard damaged cells immediately.
Source: The replaceable glass tube chamber and the two included glass tubes are stated on the product page for the YLL IH 3.0.
Heating it right: watts and seconds by material
YLLVape gives no temperature figures in degrees – you work with watts and seconds, using the DynaVap click as your indicator. A few reference points:
- Flavour/low: moderate watts, slightly longer heating time – the vapor stays mild.
- Dense clouds: higher watts, shorter time to the click.
- Larger tips/Hyperdyn: higher watts or more time, because more metal mass needs to be heated.
The practical approach: start with a mid-range setting, check after the first click, then adjust watts or seconds by one step. After two or three attempts you will have found your preferred values and can call them up again and again.
Source: That thicker caps take longer to reach the same temperature at the same power is explained by YLLVape in the article on cap thickness in induction heating.
YLL 3.0 vs. YLL 2.0: what the upgrade brings
The YLL 3.0 is the more powerful evolution of the YLL 2.0. The differences:
- Power: 30–100 W (3.0) versus 30–60 W (2.0) – faster heat-up, more headroom.
- Batteries: dual 21700 (3.0) instead of dual 18650 (2.0) – longer sessions with less frequent changes.
- Chamber: removable glass tube with an 18 mm internal diameter, larger coil and chamber lighting on the 3.0, making it suitable for Hyperdyn and similarly sized devices.
- Display: rotatable 180° on the 3.0, fixed on the 2.0.
Anyone who only heats standard DynaVap tips and wants a smaller, lighter device will get by with the 2.0. Anyone who uses large tips, wants dense draws in a single session, or needs longer battery life is better served by the 3.0. The upgrade is worthwhile primarily because of the 21700 batteries, the larger chamber, and the higher maximum power.
Source: All differences in power, batteries, chamber and display are covered in the YLLVape comparison YLL IH 2.0 vs. 3.0.
YLL 3.0 vs. Ispire The Wand
Both are induction heaters, but with different philosophies. The Ispire The Wand offers temperature selection in degrees (approximately 120–425 °C, in 5-degree steps), runs on 2× 18650, and is designed primarily for concentrates. The YLL 3.0, by contrast, relies on watt and second control, 2× 21700, and the heating of dry herb devices such as DynaVap.
In short: the Wand is more versatile (degree display, concentrate use), while the YLL 3.0 offers up to 100 watts and an adjustable chamber depth as well as larger battery cells. Anyone who values a temperature readout in degrees and a dab function should go for the Wand; anyone looking for power and adjustability for DynaVap tips should go for the YLL 3.0.
Source: The temperature range of 250 to 800 °F in 5-degree steps, two 18650 batteries, and the concentrate focus of the Wand are listed on the Wand product page at VPM, the official Ispire retailer.
YLL 3.0 with the MAD Heaters TEMPEST 2
The MAD Heaters TEMPEST 2 is a device with a ferromagnetic tip that can be heated by induction. MAD Heaters, the manufacturer of the TEMPEST 2, sells the YLL 3.0 in its UK and US shops as a heater for the TEMPEST 2. According to MAD Heaters, this version has its own firmware with a desktop mode: the device runs continuously on cable power, and the batteries are only charged to 70% to slow their aging. A 3 mm spacer for the TEMPEST 2 is also included.
Setup according to the manual: Remove the battery cover, place the C-shaped 3 mm spacer on the silicone pad at the bottom of the heating chamber, and replace the cover. Then, with the heater switched off, press the TEMPEST cap – along with the silicone pad and ceramic disc – down onto the spacer. This sets the correct insertion depth.
Settings: MAD Heaters publishes a table of watts and seconds for each ball material and cap. Two examples for starting from room temperature:
- Stainless steel cap with quartz glass balls (factory state): 60 W → 50–54 s, 80 W → 39–43 s, 100 W → 29–32 s
- Titanium cap with zirconia balls (factory state): 60 W → 45–50 s, 80 W → 35–40 s, 100 W → 27–30 s
Lowering the power means heating for longer; raising it means shortening the timer so nothing burns. If the cap is still warm from the previous session, the manual advises subtracting 8–12 seconds from the timer while leaving the wattage unchanged.
Source: The setup with the 3 mm spacer, the settings table, and the notes on reheating are in the TEMPEST 2 manual at MAD Heaters; the firmware with desktop mode and what's in the box are on the YLL 3.0 product page at MAD Heaters.
What's in the box and what you'll need in addition
According to YLLVape, the box contains the device, two glass tubes, two ceramic inserts, and a USB-C charging cable. The two 21700 batteries are not included – you need to purchase them separately (see battery recommendation above). Factor in these additional costs when comparing prices.
Useful accessories: an external 21700 charger (allows a spare set to charge simultaneously), a second set of batteries for uninterrupted use, and optionally the silicone adapter from YLLVape that keeps a DynaVap upright in the chamber. Glass tubes and ceramic inserts are available individually as spare parts. If you buy the YLL 3.0 from MAD Heaters, a 3 mm spacer for the TEMPEST 2 is also included; it is available there individually as well.
Source: The box contents – device, two glass tubes, two ceramic inserts, and USB-C cable – are listed on the YLL IH 3.0 product page.
Care, cleaning, and chamber replacement
The YLL 3.0 is easy to maintain because the herb never sits directly in the device – only the tip enters the chamber. Over time, residue can nonetheless build up in the glass tube. It can be removed and cleaned, or replaced when needed.
Keep the ceramic insert free of fragments so the tip sits cleanly. Wipe the battery contacts dry as needed. Beyond that: store the device in a dry place away from direct heat, and keep the batteries at roughly half charge if the device will not be used for an extended period.
Source: That the removable glass tube makes alignment and cleaning easier is noted in the YLLVape comparison YLL IH 2.0 vs. 3.0.
Origin: YLLVape and MAD Heaters
Two names circulate for the same device, so here is a clarification: the YLL 3.0 (YLL IH 3.0) is manufactured by YLLVape, a developer and manufacturer of portable vaporizers and accessories founded in 2019. MAD Heaters, the manufacturer of the TEMPEST, sells the device through its shops for the UK and the USA – which is why it sometimes appears as "MAD Heaters YLL 3.0". It is also sold directly through YLLVape and via other specialist retailers.
For you as a buyer this means: the technical specifications are identical everywhere (30–100 W, two 21700 cells, glass chamber). According to the shop, the MAD Heaters version includes its own firmware with a desktop mode and a 3 mm spacer for the TEMPEST 2 in the box. Otherwise the shops differ in price, shipping, and warranty handling – which is exactly what you can compare in the price table above.
Source: The founding year, field of activity, and the list of authorised retailers are stated on the YLLVape homepage; the firmware and scope of delivery of the MAD Heaters version are on the product page at MAD Heaters.
Common Issues and Solutions
- Tip does not heat up properly: Check the chamber depth – is the hot part of the tip centered within the coil? Adjust the ceramic insert if necessary. For large or thick-walled tips, increase the watts or seconds.
- Heating cycle ends too soon: The set heating time has elapsed – increase the seconds. If the device switches off immediately, check the battery charge and the correct seating of the cells.
- Weak performance: often caused by empty or unevenly charged batteries. Use both cells fully charged and of the same type.
- Uneven heating: tip inserted too deep or too shallow – adjust the depth.
Source: The depth-adjustable chamber and the recommended high-drain batteries on which these tips are based are described on the product page of the YLL IH 3.0.
Who the YLL 3.0 is Right For
The YLLVape YLL 3.0 is the right choice if you want to use your DynaVap (or a TEMPEST/Hyperdyn device) regularly and without a flame and value adjustable power, larger batteries, and repeatable results. The adjustable chamber and up to 100 watts make it, according to the manufacturer, one of the most versatile induction heaters on the market.
It is less suited to purely occasional users for whom a simple lighter suffices, or to anyone who needs a degree-precise temperature display and a dab function – in that case the Ispire Wand is the better choice. Also factor in the cost of batteries, as these are sold separately.
Source: The manufacturer's claims regarding versatility, power of up to 100 watts, and batteries sold separately are stated on the product page of the YLL IH 3.0.

Open in full comparison →A battery-powered induction heater for DynaVap and other devices with a ferromagnetic tip. It heats the metal tip via a magnetic field – without flame or butane. Power output 30–100 watts, adjustable heating duration.
No. You need two 21700 batteries, which are purchased separately. YLLVape recommends the Molicel P42A (4200 mAh, 45 A, flat top).
Via USB-C directly in the device; a cable is included. Alternatively, you can charge the 21700 cells externally in a separate charger.
DynaVap devices, and according to YLLVape also Hyperdyn and similarly sized devices, thanks to a chamber with an 18 mm internal diameter. MAD Heaters sells it as a heater for the TEMPEST 2 and includes a 3 mm spacer for the correct insertion depth. Devices without a metal tip cannot be heated by induction.
The ceramic insert can be adjusted in depth so that the tip sits centrally in the magnetic field. Two ceramic inserts are included; a silicone adapter from YLLVape additionally holds a DynaVap straight.
For standard DynaVap tips, the mid-range setting usually suffices. Larger or thicker-walled tips and Hyperdyn chambers benefit from higher wattage or longer heating time; the full 100 W delivers dense draws in a single pass.
The 3.0 delivers up to 100 watts (2.0: 60 W), uses dual 21700 batteries instead of 18650, has a chamber with an 18 mm internal diameter – suitable for Hyperdyn as well – plus a rotating display and chamber lighting.
The Ispire Wand offers temperature selection in degrees and is designed for concentrates. The YLL 3.0 offers up to 100 W, 21700 batteries, and an adjustable chamber. For pure DynaVap use with high power output, the YLL 3.0 is the more suitable choice.
The manufacturer is YLLVape. MAD Heaters sells the device in its shops for the United Kingdom and the USA, which is why it sometimes appears as "MAD Heaters YLL 3.0". The technical specifications are identical; the MAD Heaters version reportedly has its own firmware with a desktop mode and a 3 mm spacer for the TEMPEST 2.
YLLVape does not mention an automatic shut-off for the 3.0. You set the heating duration via the timer in seconds; once it elapses, the heating cycle ends.
