Heating Balls Zirconia balls for the MAD Heaters Tempest 2 — the default material included with every Tempest 2. Density: 5.68 g/cm³, thermal conductivity: 2.5 W/mK. Heat-up time at 80 W: 35–40 seconds. The best all-rounder: balanced heat retention, even extraction, and good flavor. Recommended as a starting point — master the technique with zirconia first, then experiment with other materials.

Manufacturer settings by heating cap material
Settings apply from room temperature. With a warm heating cap, reduce the YLL-3.0 timer by 8–12 seconds and maintain the wattage. Wand values control the timer, not the actual temperature. They apply with the V3 adapter until timeout.
