About this vaporizer
The Puffco Proxy Desert is the limited Desert edition of the Puffco Proxy, a modular vaporizer for concentrates and dabs. Visually, the Desert Collection is two-tone: the body and the characteristic 3D chamber appear in sandy tan-cream, the glass in a warm vintage brown. Technically the Desert matches the standard Proxy exactly. What makes the Proxy special is its modular design — the heated base with the 3D chamber can be removed from the glass body and fitted into various compatible attachments and pipes. Four temperature levels cover the range around 260 to 285 degrees Celsius, and the battery has 1,680 mAh. The Desert edition was introduced in 2023 and is now sold out at many retailers, making it a sought-after collector item.

Puffco →Desert is the second color option of the original Proxy, introduced in February 2023 alongside Black. Same tech as the 2022 original: four settings 490–560 °F, 1350 mAh, around 15 dabs, no app and no Core compatibility. Sold out at Puffco.
The Puffco Proxy (Original) is the first Proxy generation from June 2022: a modular concentrate vaporizer whose battery-powered base with a ceramic 3D Chamber sits inside a glass pipe and can be moved into other attachments. Four heat settings from 490 to 560 °F (254–293 °C), 1350 mAh for around 15 dabs, a 30-second heat-up and USB-C charging in 90 minutes are Puffco's figures. Since September 2025 it has been replaced by the second-generation Proxy with Bluetooth; Puffco now calls it the "OG Proxy".
It remains relevant for remaining stock and for the Desert, Bloom, Flourish and Storm color editions. Before buying, know this: no app, a one-year warranty only, and neither the glass-free Core attachment nor the new 3D Chamber fits this base.

Generations and variants
The original launched in June 2022 in black. Desert followed in February 2023, the Bloom edition in October 2023, the limited Flourish edition in February 2024 and Storm in dark blue in September 2024; from 2024 the kit shipped with the Joystick Cap instead of the Oculus carb cap. In September 2025 Puffco replaced the line with the second-generation Proxy: Bluetooth app, taller 3D Chamber, refined shape. Glass pieces are interchangeable between generations; the 3D Chambers are not. The Proxy Core Kit introduced in 2026 builds on the new base only.
3D Chamber and heat settings
The 3D Chamber is a ceramic bowl with heated walls; concentrate vaporizes from the sides rather than the floor. Four color-coded settings from blue to white are selected with a single click, a double click starts the heat cycle, and the device flashes and vibrates when ready. The manual lists 490 to 560 °F, the support page slightly higher values around 505 to 565 °F. Boost Mode extends the cycle by 15 seconds and raises the temperature by 18 °F. Puffco advises ten-minute cool-downs between cycles and no more than four consecutive heat-ups.
How Do I Charge the Battery Properly?
The built-in 1350 mAh battery delivers around 15 heat cycles according to Puffco; Boost use shortens that. Charging takes about 90 minutes over USB-C from a 5 V / 1.2 A supply, and a triple click shows the charge level via the LED color. Puffco does not document pass-through use for this generation. The battery is not replaceable, and charging below 32 °F or above 100 °F is prohibited. Puffco recommends a full charge before first use.
Modular glass system
The base sits loosely in the hand-blown borosilicate pipe and can be moved without tools into other Proxy pieces: the Bub for water filtration, the Wizard with its spiral stem, the Ryan Fitt Recycler, the Travel Pipe or third-party glass. Puffco confirms that every Proxy base fits every Proxy glass piece, including the pieces introduced in 2025. For dry herb there was the Proxy Flower Bowl, now sold out at Puffco.
How Do I Clean and Maintain My Vaporizer?
Wipe the chamber with a cotton swab after each use while warm; for residue, soak it in 90%+ isopropyl alcohol for 20 minutes and let it dry without rinsing in water. Never submerge the base; clean only the contacts and airpath with a dampened swab. Glass can be soaked and rinsed with water. Red-white flashing means a chamber contact error, three white flashes a missing chamber, five seconds of red an overheat.
Warranty and support
Puffco grants the original Proxy base a one-year and the chamber a one-month limited warranty; glass, wear and misuse are excluded, and proof of purchase from an authorized dealer is required. The dedicated OG support page offers the Rev B manual, quick start guide and error code help. First-generation replacement chambers are still sold by Puffco. The receipt must show the product, price, date and merchant.
Who it is for, alternatives
Today the original makes sense for collectors of the color editions and for anyone who wants a preset-only device without an app and finds remaining stock. If you want app control, the larger chamber or the glass-free Core attachment, you need the second-generation Proxy or the Proxy Core Kit. Weaknesses of the original: one-year warranty only, around 15 dabs per charge, no firmware upgrades.

Compatible Accessories
No. Puffco states that Core works only with the app-enabled 2025 Proxy base. The new 3D Chamber does not fit the original either.
By the missing Bluetooth: the original has no app. Puffco calls it the "OG Proxy"; retailers usually list it as "Proxy" without "New" or "V2". The Desert, Bloom, Flourish and Storm editions all belong to the original.
Around 15 heat cycles from the 1350 mAh battery, per Puffco. Charging takes about 90 minutes over USB-C.
Four settings; the manual lists 490, 510, 525 and 560 °F (254–293 °C), the support page about 505 to 565 °F. Boost raises the temperature by 18 °F.
Yes. According to Puffco all Proxy bases are compatible with all Proxy glass pieces. Only the 3D Chambers are generation-specific.
