The 7th Floor Super Surfer is a desktop vaporizer handmade in Colorado. It runs on pure convection heating via AC power — no battery, no session time limit. The device supports both whip and balloon operation, making it one of the most versatile tabletop vaporizers available.
7th Floor has been building desktop vaporizers in Boulder, Colorado for over 15 years. The Super Surfer is their flagship — individually assembled and quality-checked. Solid wood housing, borosilicate glass vapor path, ceramic heating element. Check current prices in our price comparison. More about the brand on the 7th Floor brand page.

Desktop convection — why it matters
Convection draws hot air through the material rather than heating it by direct contact. The Super Surfer uses a ceramic heating element that brings air to temperature before it reaches the herb. The result: even extraction without combustion risk, clean flavor from first draw to last.
Desktop convection has one key advantage over portables: unlimited power. The heating element runs on mains electricity and holds temperature indefinitely. Portable convection vaporizers struggle with battery drain at high temps. The Super Surfer has no such limitation.
Temperature is set via a stepless analog dial. No digital display, no screen — you learn the right positions over time. This is intentional: fewer electronics, fewer failure points, longer lifespan.
Whip and balloon — two modes in one device
The Super Surfer works with a whip (tube) or a balloon (bag). Whip mode provides direct, controlled draws through a silicone tube. Balloon mode fills a bag with vapor for relaxed inhalation.
Whip: better for solo sessions, instant access, minimal vapor loss. Balloon: ideal for groups, vapor can be passed around, consistent draw quality.
Switching between modes is straightforward — both use the same connection point on the device. Many users prefer the whip for daily sessions and switch to balloon when sharing with friends.
Handcrafted quality from Colorado
7th Floor builds the Super Surfer by hand in Boulder, Colorado. Each unit goes through manual quality control. The housing is solid wood — multiple wood types available, from cherry to bamboo. No plastic, no cheap metal.
Glass components are borosilicate. The vapor path and heating element are fully separated — air touches only glass and ceramic. Replacement parts are available directly from 7th Floor: heating element, glass pieces, and tubing can all be swapped individually.
Cleaning and maintenance
Desktop vaporizers need regular care. The Super Surfer makes it easy because all glass parts are removable and individually cleanable.
After each session: Remove spent material from the glass piece. Optionally blow through the whip to keep the vapor path clear.
Weekly: Soak glass parts in isopropyl alcohol (90%+) for 20 minutes. Rinse the whip with warm water. Let everything dry completely before next use.
Replace the whip tubing every 2 to 3 months depending on usage intensity. Glass parts last indefinitely as long as they survive drops.
Who is the Super Surfer for?
The Super Surfer is a home device. If you want a desktop vaporizer that handles both whip and balloon with pure convection heating and handcrafted build quality, this is it.
It is not for users who want portability or a digital temperature display. The analog control and lack of screen are deliberate design choices.
Compared to the Volcano Hybrid, the Super Surfer is more compact, more affordable, and handmade. The Volcano offers digital precision and app control. Both are excellent — the choice depends on priorities.
