About this vaporizer
The 7th Floor Elev8R is a hand-blown glass convection attachment for butane torches, heating dry herbs up to 230°C in about 38 seconds. Pure convection airflow delivers terpene-rich vapor without direct contact with the heating element; compatible with water pipes and dosing capsules.

7th Floor Vaporizer Key Takeaways 7th Floor — vaporizer manufacturer from USA Conduction + convection heating, 8 models (portable, desktop, butane, ball vape) Range from 130 € to 338 €, available at 20+ shops
7th Floor →The Elev8R by 7th Floor is a desktop ball vaporizer that works with quartz or ruby balls. A coil heating element heats the balls, the air flows through them and is brought up to temperature by pure convection. Made in the USA, without electronics — just glass and heat. The vapour is dense and flavourful. In the price comparison, the Elev8R sits between 150 and 300 euros, depending on the ball set and accessories.

Research context: A study in the Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences (Hazekamp et al., 2006) showed that vaporization at controlled temperatures releases over 95 % of the desired active compounds, while combustion by-products are largely avoided. Source: PubMed 16637053

Ball vape physics with a torch
The Elev8R by 7th Floor uses ruby balls in a glass tube as a heat store. A butane torch heats the balls to operating temperature — this takes about 30-45 seconds. When you then draw through the device, air flows through the hot balls and is brought up to vaporization temperature. The thermal mass of the balls keeps the temperature constant over several draws. Compared with electronic ball vapes such as the Qaroma, there is no controller heat-up time, but you do need a good torch.
Glass construction and heat resistance
The glass tube of the Elev8R is made from borosilicate — the same material as laboratory equipment. It withstands thermal shocks that would immediately shatter normal glass. The balls sit loosely in the tube and can simply be tipped out for cleaning. An 18mm bong or a dry glass piece serves as the base — the Elev8R works with any 18mm joint. With no moving parts or electronics, there is practically nothing that can break.
Comparison with the Qaroma
The Elev8R and the Qaroma both use ruby balls, but with different heat sources. The Elev8R relies on a torch — ready for use immediately, with no heat-up time for a controller. The Qaroma heats electrically via PID — more precise and more reproducible, but it needs 3-5 minutes of lead time. In terms of flavour, both are on a par. In terms of price, the Elev8R is significantly cheaper, as no PID controller is needed.
Tips for beginners
Anyone using the Elev8R for the first time should start with a short heating cycle — 20 seconds of torch time instead of 30-45 seconds. Too hot and the material chars, too cold and it will not produce vapour. The number of balls also affects the temperature: fewer balls mean less heat storage and faster cooling between draws.

A normal Bunsen burner or kitchen torch works. No special tool needed.
There is a learning curve. After a few sessions, you get the hang of it.
Borosilicate glass is heat-resistant, but it can break if dropped. Replacement heads are available from 7th Floor.
