Unlike butane devices, the Glass Bat works with any regular lighter. The flame hits a ceramic filter that distributes heat and vaporizes the material through heated air — convection, not combustion. Heat-up takes about 5 seconds.
The entire body is borosilicate glass. It is sturdy and adds no taste of its own. The one-hitter shape makes it as compact as a cigarette. No battery, no electronics — just load and light.
Temperature is adjusted by the distance of the flame from the ceramic filter. Closer means hotter, farther away means cooler. With a bit of practice, you can dose the vapor well. Maximum temperature is around 190 degrees Celsius.
The Glass Bat is loaded directly: the material sits in the glass bowl beneath the ceramic filter, and there are no dosing capsules for it. The glass tube itself is easy to rinse with isopropyl alcohol. Few parts, little effort.

It sits between the flame and the material. The flame heats the filter, and hot air flows through the material by convection. No direct flame contact.
Borosilicate glass is fairly resilient, but a drop onto hard ground can break it. A protective case is recommended.
Soak the glass tube in isopropyl alcohol or rinse it through. Every one to two weeks is enough with regular use.
About 190 degrees Celsius at most. That is a bit lower than electronic devices but produces clean, flavorful vapor.
