DaVinci ARTIQ

The ARTIQ accepts standard 510-thread cartridges and heats them via their own heating element. It has no filling system, chamber, or screens of its own. DaVinci houses the cartridge in an anodized aluminum shell that protects it from impacts and UV light. From the outside, there is no way to tell what is inside the device.

At 24 × 42 × 90 mm and 150 g, it fits in any trouser pocket. There is no app; the ARTIQ is operated via a single button, an LED, and haptic feedback.

According to DaVinci, most 510-thread cartridges with bottom airflow in sizes 0.3 g, 0.5 g, and 1 g are compatible. Oversized cartridges do not fit in the housing.

To insert a cartridge, slide the bottom cover downwards, connect the cartridge to a magnetic collar, and place it inside. The device comes with two additional collars and two spare seals. Anyone using several cartridges in rotation can fit each with its own collar. Replacements are available in the ARTIQ spare parts kit.

The ARTIQ does not regulate in degrees Celsius but via three voltage levels. DaVinci calls them FLAVOR (low, 2.8 V), MIND (medium), and REST (high). The manufacturer recommends the low level for beginners and for appreciating the flavor of the oil, and the high level for experienced users.

Pre-heating takes around 3 seconds. A vibration signal accompanies the process from pre-heating to full power, so you do not need to watch the device.

The vapor travels through an extended airpath made from medical-grade stainless steel 316. DaVinci states that the vapor cools by up to 90% before it reaches you. The mouthpiece cap is made from Tritan, and the insert from heat-resistant silicone.

At the end of a session, the carb function helps: hold the button down and draw the remaining vapor out of the airpath. This prevents blockages. For use with a water pipe, there is a separately available 10 mm silicone adapter that replaces the flat mouthpiece.

The battery is built in. DaVinci lists 760 mAh in the specifications and 700 mAh in the feature list. According to the manufacturer, a single charge is sufficient for around 500 draws. Charging is via USB-C, and thanks to passthrough charging, you can use the ARTIQ while it is plugged in.

The LED indicates charging status: red flashing up to 30%, blue flashing up to 60%, green flashing up to 99%, and solid green when fully charged. The ARTIQ has no automatic shut-off. Switch it off yourself after a session, otherwise the battery will drain.

Cleaning tools are included with the ARTIQ. The most important areas are around the connection and the base of the cartridge, where resin residue tends to accumulate. If the LED flashes red and the device vibrates without producing vapor, the ARTIQ is not detecting a connection to the cartridge. Check that the collar and cartridge are firmly connected, and clean the contact point. A green LED confirms that the connection has been established.

To reset the ARTIQ to factory settings, hold the button for 10 seconds whilst the device is switched off.

The ARTIQ is aimed at anyone who already uses 510-thread oil cartridges and is looking for a more discreet device with cooler vapor than a simple battery pen. Anyone wishing to vaporize dry herb will not find what they are looking for here. For that, DaVinci makes dedicated devices such as the IQ3 or the MIQRO-C.
