Research context: A study in the Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences (Hazekamp et al., 2006) showed that vaporization at controlled temperatures releases over 95 % of the desired active compounds, while combustion by-products are largely avoided. Source: PubMed 16637053

Vortex cooling in the air path
The Simrell Vortex was Simrell's original cooling system before the MVS appeared. Inside, helical channels create a vortex effect, setting the vapour into rotation. This rotation lengthens the effective vapour path and noticeably cools the vapour. Compared with the MVS, the cooling effect is slightly lower, but the Vortex also costs less. Both systems significantly improve comfort compared with the standard DynaVap condenser.
Material options and customisation
The Vortex is available in stainless steel, titanium and various wood and stainless steel combinations. The wood variants (Wenge, Cocobolo, Bocote) feel warm in the hand and have a crafted look. All versions use a 10mm mouth end that fits directly into small bongs. The O-ring at the stem end seals against the DynaVap tip and can be replaced easily when worn.
Vortex vs standard condenser
The DynaVap standard condenser is a straight tube without cooling — the vapour arrives hot and harsh. The Vortex noticeably reduces the vapour temperature through its twisted air path. The difference is especially noticeable at high temperatures (second or third click). Those who mainly use the DynaVap at low temperatures for flavour benefit less from the cooling effect.
Care and lifespan
The Simrell Vortex lasts for years with normal use. The spiral-shaped channels inside collect resin over time — weekly soaking in isopropyl alcohol dissolves the deposits. Do not soak the wood variants for longer than 30 minutes, as the wood can otherwise swell. The O-rings at the stem end are the only wear parts.

More even extraction, better flavour and less stirring required. Hybrids use both heating principles, which makes better use of the material.
No, hybrid devices heat up about as quickly as pure conduction (15-30s). The convection part only activates during inhalation.
