The Vapman Classic is the original wooden model by Vapman inventor René, launched in Switzerland in 2004. Like every Vapman, it is heated from the outside with a flame and needs no battery. The maker now sells it only as individual pieces; its successors are the Vapman Click and the Vapman 2.0.

According to Vapman, the idea originated in the late 1990s in Biel, the center of the Swiss watchmaking industry. René chose the flame as an energy source because it heats faster than an electric heating element and a purely mechanical construction is more durable. After its market launch in 2004, the Vapman spread primarily by word of mouth.
Today Vapman is manufactured in South Tyrol. The Classic line lives on in the Vapman Click Classic, which clicks audibly upon reaching 180 °C.
The manufacturer lists the Classic as a collector's item: an OG Vapman Swiss Classic made from pear wood was, according to the product page, crafted by René himself in Switzerland in very small quantities. The package includes a filling funnel and a protective case.
Vapman does not specify temperature, heat-up time, bowl size, weight, or warranty for the Classic. Shops sometimes sell it as a set with additional accessories; exactly what is included is stated in the respective listing.
As with all Vapman devices, the bowl is heated from the outside with a jet lighter and you then draw slowly on the mouthpiece. There is no temperature display: the distance of the flame and the heating duration determine how hot it gets. This takes a few sessions of practice.
There are no dosing capsules for the Vapman; the bowl is filled directly, with the Original using the included funnel.
