CopperCore and Second Atomizer
Vestratto describes a second atomizer that breaks larger vapor droplets into a finer mist. This is intended to make the draw smoother and improve yield. It is powered by the patented inner CopperCore layer.
The inner steel layer is made from medical-grade steel according to the manufacturer. The outer shell is magnetic so that the FORGE induction heater can heat it. Vestratto does not provide any measurements regarding temperature or vapor.
Heating: Flame or FORGE
The Tornado is heated externally with a flame or with the separately available FORGE induction heater. Because the devices are still being produced in small batches and early users are refining their technique, Vestratto currently does not publish any definitive heating guidelines.
The Tornado ships with a temperature-sensing chamber. According to the manufacturer, it does not tolerate a cold start: the TXL chamber can otherwise become stuck inside the device due to thermal expansion.
Chamber and Loading
The XXL herb chamber is 55 per cent larger than the XL chamber of the ThermoCore according to Vestratto, and holds approximately 0.3 g at a medium grind. The manufacturer recommends loose packing so that air can flow through freely.
The chambers are threaded and have a hexagonal grip. They are placed into the cold oven, tightened finger-tight, and then turned back a small amount. They are not compatible with ThermoCore or DuraCORE ovens. Airflow is controlled via your own draw or via airflow regulators on connected stems.
Variants and Connections
Vestratto sells the Tornado individually with a water pipe adapter in 14 or 18 mm, as a Half Rig, and as a Full Rig. The Full Rig comes with a Tornado stem, XL mouthpiece, and spiral filter. According to the manufacturer, it delivers the Anvil experience, but with the Tornado oven and TXL chamber.
The Tornado's connection is shorter than on older parts and is not designed for the USA or Integrated stems. The Tornado itself does not require O-rings — only the water pipe adapter does. The screen in the atomizer is the same as on the screened Anvil parts.
