Stainless steel housing with a deep gemstone chamber
The housing of the Staroma Lite Plus is made of SS316 stainless steel. QaromaShop designed it to maximize the performance of a 20-mm heating coil without sacrificing the characteristics of the Staroma Lite; in terms of the ratio of housing mass to gemstone mass, the emphasis is clearly on the stones.
The gemstone chamber is elongated, with around 95 % of the stones located within the heating coil zone. It normally holds 300 to 310 3-mm ruby pearls; sacrificing a few cap threads allows more to fit inside, though the manufacturer says this is usually unnecessary. To compensate for the deeper chamber, the diameter is smaller, and according to QaromaShop, the Staroma Lite Plus weighs only 40 g.
Airflow and concentrates
Because of its greater depth, the Staroma Lite Plus has additional air intake, and the air holes are chamfered. According to the manufacturer, both features are intended to improve airflow and make it easier to use with concentrates.
The space beneath the cap, approximately 5 to 6 % of the chamber, is intended for double-decker operation: the concentrate is not supposed to vaporize there immediately but instead fall into the coil's heating zone.
Coil, temperature, and controller
Heating is provided by a 20-mm heating coil connected to a PID controller, which comes with a US or EU plug; the coil has a five-pin XLR connector. During installation, stretch the coil slightly beyond the length of the chamber and use the cap to press it back like a spring so that it sits firmly in place. Incompatible coils should not be used.
QaromaShop recommends starting at no more than 266 °C (510 °F) and then adjusting the temperature gradually. The manufacturer does not specify an upper temperature limit for the Staroma Lite Plus. The porcelain stand becomes hot during extended operation but can still be touched briefly.
Kit contents
The kit includes the SS316 housing, an adapter bowl (deep, short, or short with dimples, with a 14- or 18-mm ground-glass joint or both), a fitted 20-mm coil, the PID controller, a coil handle made of stabilized walnut wood, a porcelain stand, 17-mm stainless steel screens, and a stainless steel scoop and stirring tool.
Ruby pearls are not included: the device requires around 310, and QaromaShop recommends two bags. Glass components are also not included; according to the manufacturer, the joints use standard laboratory glass sizes. There is no warranty or return policy, except for merchandise that arrives defective or damaged and is reported within 24 hours with a photo or video.
