QaromaShop describes the Staroma 360 as a version of the Taroma 360 with an SS316 stainless steel housing. The “Gemstone Chamber” contains over 200 ruby beads measuring 3 mm. The housing slides over a glass stem whose thin walls and large surface area combine convection and conduction according to the manufacturer (“Hybrid 360 Tech”).
The screen sits inside the stem and its depth can be adjusted to accommodate large and small loads; a basket screen is provided for small amounts. The Taroma 360 is the version with a Grade 2 titanium housing.
QaromaShop specifies an operating range of 191 to 254 °C (375–490 °F) for the Staroma 360, set using the PID controller. Each range has a corresponding “heat soak” time. This refers to the dwell time during which the housing placed on the stem heats the material inside it, not the device's heat-up time.
The manufacturer's table specifies: 191–210 °C (375–410 °F) for 60–90 seconds, 210–232 °C (410–450 °F) for 30–60 seconds, and 232–254 °C (450–490 °F) for 15–30 seconds. According to QaromaShop, stirring is not necessary. After lifting off the housing, use the final draw to extract the remaining heat from the stem.
The Staroma 360 is heated by a specially developed 150 W heating coil with a diameter of 20 mm that connects to the PID controller. The coil has a five-pin XLR connector; according to the manufacturer, modified or incompatible coils should not be used.
The glass stem fits 14 and 18 mm joints. QaromaShop strongly recommends an ash catcher with a carb hole or a passthrough bowl so you can clear the draw without lifting off the housing.
The DIY kit includes the stainless steel housing, glass stem, a tested 20 mm heating coil, the PID controller with plug (US, EU, or AU only), a walnut coil handle (Walnut StabWood), a porcelain stand, two packages of 3 mm ruby beads, stainless steel screens, a basket screen, and a stainless steel spoon with a stirring tool. The glass adapter for the basket screen is no longer included because it frequently becomes stuck and is available separately.
The accessories recommended by QaromaShop are not included: a metal dish, additional glass stems, a small ash catcher with a carb hole, passthrough bowls, and replacement screens. There is no warranty or return option; shipping damage must be reported with a photo or video within 24 hours of receipt.
