Stainless Steel Balls and Heating
The Staroma 2.0 uses stainless steel balls as thermal mass. Steel has higher thermal conductivity than ceramic, leading to faster heat-up and somewhat more intense vapor. The balls heat evenly, and air flows through them and through the herb when you inhale. The 2.0 revision features an improved heating element.
Temperature and Session Flow
The PID controller manages temperature between 150 and 230 degrees. Steel balls reach operating temperature in about 2-4 minutes — faster than ceramic. At low temps around 170, terpenes come through clearly. Above 210, extraction becomes more thorough. A session typically lasts 5-10 minutes depending on bowl size.
Construction and Maintenance
Vapor path made of glass and stainless steel with no plastic parts. The housing is built solid for daily desk use. Steel balls clean easily — soak in isopropanol or rinse with hot water. All glass parts are available as replacements from QaromaShop.
Water Filtration and Accessories
14mm glass joint for direct water pipe connection. Steel balls produce slightly warmer vapor than ceramic, making water filtration particularly worthwhile. A mouthpiece for use without a bong is included. Screens and seals are available as spare parts.
