Ceramic Chamber and Heating System
The Puffco Plus uses a coil-less ceramic chamber — no heating coil, no wick. The ceramic surface heats directly and warms the loaded concentrate through conduction from below and the sides.
Compared to standard wax pens with tungsten coils, there are no combustion byproducts that compromise flavor. Ceramic is taste-neutral and holds up well under repeated heating.
The chamber is removable: a quick turn and it comes out for cleaning or replacement. Puffco sells replacement chambers separately. This is a clear advantage over pens with fixed coils.
Note: the Plus chamber is not the 3D Chamber found in the Pivot or the Peak e-rigs. It has a simpler design and costs less to purchase and replace.
Temperature Levels and Sesh Mode
The Plus offers three voltage-based temperature levels, shown by the LED color in the mouthpiece:
| Color | Voltage | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Blue | 2.7 V | Low vapor, clean flavor, small dabs |
| Green | 3.2 V | Balanced, moderate vapor output |
| White | 3.7 V | Maximum vapor, stronger hits |
Puffco does not publish exact temperatures in °C for the Plus — the chamber is voltage-controlled, not temperature-regulated. This is a key difference from the Pivot, which uses real-time temperature control.
Sesh Mode is the second operating mode: a long press starts a continuous 12-second heat cycle. Useful for a full session without repeated button presses. The device vibrates briefly at the end of the cycle.
Battery and Charging
The Puffco Plus has a built-in 520 mAh battery. Puffco rates it at 6 to 9 sessions per charge, depending on the temperature level selected and session length.
Charging is via Micro-USB — not USB-C. That is a notable difference from the Pivot, which charges with USB-C. Anyone using a modern cable kit will need a dedicated Micro-USB cable. Charge time is roughly 60 to 90 minutes depending on remaining charge.
Passthrough operation (vaping while charging) is not supported. The capacity is reasonable for an entry-level device. Heavy daily users may need to charge it each evening.
Build, Controls, and Built-in Dart Tool
The Plus body is made of aluminum. It is slim and lightweight — classic dab pen format. Despite being the most affordable Puffco device, the finish looks and feels solid.
Everything runs through one button. Five quick presses: power on or off. One short press when on: cycle through temperature levels (Blue → Green → White → Blue). Long press: activate Sesh Mode. No app, no Bluetooth, no display.
The standout feature compared to other pens is the built-in Dart tool, stored inside the mouthpiece. Pull it out, scoop up concentrate, load the chamber — no separate dab tool needed. In practice this is more convenient than it sounds, especially when using the device away from home.
Cleaning and Maintenance
The ceramic chamber pops out in seconds. A cotton swab with isopropanol (90%+) handles routine upkeep. After every 5 to 10 sessions, a quick wipe-down prevents wax buildup from burning and leaving deposits that dull flavor.
Without coils or wicks, there are no parts that burn out from overheating. Ceramic survives far more cleaning cycles than typical coil pens. That said, the chamber is still a consumable: after weeks to months of use — depending on frequency — output drops and a chamber swap makes sense.
Clean the Dart tool and airpath occasionally with a cotton swab as well. Soaking the mouthpiece in isopropanol is fine for deeper cleaning.
What's in the Box
The Puffco Plus package includes:
- Puffco Plus (device with built-in battery)
- Ceramic chamber (pre-installed)
- Mouthpiece with built-in Dart tool
- Micro-USB charging cable
- User manual
No separate dab tool is needed — the Dart tool covers that. There is no official water adapter; the Plus is not designed for use with water filtration.
Comparison with Other Puffco Devices
The Plus is the entry point in the Puffco lineup. Here is how it stacks up against the other models:
| Feature | Plus | Pivot | New Peak | Peak Pro V2 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Type | Dab pen | Dab pen | E-Rig | E-Rig |
| Chamber | Ceramic | 3D Chamber | 3D Chamber | 3DXL Chamber |
| Temp levels | 3 (voltage) | 4 (temp.) | 4 (temp.) | 4 + Custom |
| Heat-up | ~5 s | ~20 s | ~25 s | ~20 s |
| Cycles/charge | 6–9 | ~15 | ~35 | ~40 |
| Water | No | Adapter | Yes | Yes |
| App | No | No | No | Yes |
| Charging | Micro-USB | USB-C | USB-C | USB-C + Qi |
The Plus costs the least and is the smallest — at the expense of battery capacity, temperature precision, and comfort features like water filtration. For a first concentrate device without the budget of an e-rig, the Plus is a practical starting point.
Who Is the Plus For?
The Puffco Plus is aimed at concentrate beginners and anyone wanting a simple, portable dab pen for on-the-go use. Operation is minimal: one button, three levels, done. The built-in Dart tool makes it more practical than most competing pens.
It is less suitable for experienced users who value precise temperature control — the voltage-based system offers no real-time regulation. Those who prefer larger dab sessions will hit limits with the small chamber and the 520 mAh battery.
The Plus is not suitable for dry herbs. It works exclusively with concentrates: wax, shatter, rosin, live resin and similar products. For dry herb vaporizing, a different device is needed.
Quick Reference
A few points that come up regularly about the Puffco Plus:
- Does it work with dry herbs? No — concentrates only.
- Is there an app? No. No Bluetooth, no app.
- Battery life? 6–9 sessions; charge takes 60–90 min via Micro-USB.
- Difference vs Pivot? The Pivot has the 3D Chamber, four levels with real temperature control, USB-C, and more battery. The Plus is smaller, simpler, and cheaper.
- When to replace the chamber? Roughly every 3–6 months depending on use. Puffco sells replacement chambers.
