The MAD Heaters TEMPEST 2 from MAD Heaters is a portable ball vape made from Grade 5 titanium with a zirconia ball thermal matrix. Weighing just 46 grams, it delivers convection vapor that rivals desktop devices – with no battery or electronics. Heat it with a jet lighter or a compatible induction heater. Zirconia ball matrix: desktop hits on the go
Inside the TEMPEST 2 sit zirconia balls that act as a thermal battery. When heated with a torch or induction heater, they store energy and release it evenly into the passing air – pure convection. The result: dense, flavourful vapor that matches many desktop ball vapes like the Qaroma or B-Zero.
The advantage over direct flame heating: the balls buffer the heat and prevent hot spots. Even with fast heating, the temperature at the herb stays consistent.
Grade 5 titanium and adjustable bowl
The body is made from Grade 5 titanium – lightweight, extremely heat-resistant, and biologically inert. The chamber has three screen positions to adjust bowl size: roughly 0.1 g, 0.15 g, or 0.2 g. Works for micro-dosing and full sessions alike.
The heat shield comes in aluminium or wood and protects your fingers during use.
Torch or induction – your choice
The TEMPEST 2 works with any single-flame jet torch, but also with induction heaters like the Ispire Wand or the YLL 3.0. The built-in stainless steel induction sleeve makes switching easy: just place the IH over the device and heat. Click indicators signal when optimal temperature is reached.
Water pipe compatible: 10, 14, and 18 mm
The TEMPEST 2 fits directly into 10 mm, 14 mm, and 18 mm water pipe adapters. Water cooling makes the already smooth vapor even gentler, especially at higher temperatures and fuller loads.
TEMPEST 2 vs. Vestratto Tornado
Both are portable titanium ball vapes, but with differences: The TEMPEST 2 offers an adjustable bowl (3 positions) and built-in IH compatibility. The Vestratto Tornado features a spin-optimised airflow design. Flavor-wise, both deliver outstanding vapor. The TEMPEST 2 is slightly lighter at 46 g and offers more flexibility in bowl size.
Cleaning and maintenance
Soak the zirconia balls and screen in isopropyl alcohol, rinse, and dry. Brush or soak the titanium body as well. Thanks to easy disassembly, cleaning takes just a few minutes. Wipe the heat shield regularly – do not soak wood versions in alcohol.
Dual-Mode Induction Heating
The TEMPEST 2 runs two distinct heating modes through its induction coil. The first mode delivers steady, regulated power for session-style use — set a temperature and the device holds it for the full draw. The second mode pulses energy in short bursts, which suits on-demand hits where you want quick heat-up and immediate cool-down between draws.
Switching between modes takes a long press on the main button. Induction heating means the coil itself never contacts the herb; only the metal insert gets hot. This keeps the air path clean and makes maintenance simpler than in devices with exposed heating elements.
