Linx Gaia

When the Linx Gaia launched, a quartz chamber in a portable dry herb vaporizer was genuinely novel. Quartz had previously been considered a material for concentrate dabs, not herb devices. Quartz is chemically inert, does not absorb odors, and is regarded as flavor-neutral. Linx uses quartz as the material for the heating chamber; a general speed advantage over all glass or ceramic chambers cannot be inferred from this alone.

The Gaia's chamber measures 10 mm × 20 mm and holds around 0.25 g of material – a typical single-session amount. Linx describes the current version as a near-full convection system: when drawing, heated air is directed through the material. The flavor is aromatic and clean, as long as you do not choose too high a temperature.

The Linx Gaia covers a range of 93 to 220°C (200–428°F). These are freely selectable values in single-degree increments – not a preset step system. The OLED display shows the actual and target temperature clearly and brightly, and is easy to read even in sunlight.

For beginners, temperatures between 175 and 195°C are recommended: in this range, aromatic vapor is produced without combustion. Higher temperatures up to 210°C extract more active compounds, but the flavor becomes warmer. Linx states a heat-up time of around 40 seconds – a normal value for a convection oven of this size.

The Linx Gaia's housing measures 80 × 50 × 24 mm and weighs 146 g. The mouthpiece is made of glass. The magnetic component is the protective cap, not the mouthpiece itself.

For water filtration, Linx offers dedicated adapters: the male adapter fits 14 mm and 18 mm glass joints. To attach it, the mouthpiece is removed and the adapter is screwed onto the Gaia. It is a separate accessory. Adapter and fitting instructions at Linx

The Linx Gaia features a 100% isolated air path: the inhaled air never comes into contact with any plastic or metal components of the electronics. This is a frequently overlooked detail that directly affects flavor.

The quartz chamber is easy to clean. After a session, a dry brush is sufficient for coarse residue. Every few days, the mouthpiece and mouthpiece screen can be soaked in isopropyl alcohol. Quartz does not absorb flavor residues, which makes cleaning easier than with ceramic or stainless steel chambers.

The Linx Gaia has a built-in 2,200 mAh battery. It cannot be replaced by the user; there is therefore no spare battery for on the go. Retailers state around one and a half hours of use per charge, with a charging time of three to four hours via USB cable.

Features the Gaia does not have: no Bluetooth app and no dosing capsule system mentioned by the manufacturer. A water pipe adapter is, however, available separately from Linx. The device is operated exclusively via the buttons and the OLED display on the unit itself. The Gaia places its emphasis on the quartz chamber and the isolated air path.

The Linx Gaia is aimed at users who value material quality and flavor and are willing to pay a little more for it. The quartz chamber is a genuine unique selling point in the portable segment.

Anyone who requires a replaceable battery should consider other models. Water filtration can, however, be added using the separately available Linx adapter.
