Fenix Mini+

The technical product page describes the Fenix Mini+ as a convection device. When you draw, heated air is passed through the material; the manufacturer does not specify any additional contact-heat system there.

The compact format combines air heating with digital temperature control and a heat-up time of around 25 seconds. Draw speed and packing continue to affect extraction.

At around 136 grams, the Mini+ is genuinely lightweight and sits discreetly in the hand. This makes it an ideal travel or backup device: it fits into any bag or pocket and attracts very little attention when you are out and about.

The compromise required by the small design is the small chamber, which holds around 0.15 grams of herb. That is enough for a solo session but limited for several people or lengthy rounds. Anyone wanting to share the Mini+ with another person or enjoy extended sessions will need to refill it in between – this is where the larger sister model, the Fenix Pro, has the advantage. For individual use on the go, however, the small chamber is not a drawback and instead saves material.

The Fenix Mini+ offers full digital temperature control from 120 to 221 °C in one-degree increments. The low starting temperature of 120 °C is a genuine advantage: it lets you begin very gently with a strong focus on flavour, something many larger devices with a higher minimum temperature do not allow. As a guide:

• 170–185 °C – flavour-focused, light vapour, plenty of aroma
• 185–195 °C – balanced, a good mix of flavour and vapour
• 195–210 °C – dense clouds, more powerful effects

If flavour is your priority, start low and increase the temperature over the course of the session. With more finely ground herb, it is worth selecting a temperature 5 to 10 °C lower. Thanks to the one-degree increments, you can pinpoint your personal sweet spot.

A discreet display on the Mini+ shows the temperature together with a timer, allowing you to keep an eye on the target temperature and remaining session time. Despite the small design, you therefore do not have to guess which setting the device is currently using.

The haptic feedback is useful: as soon as the selected temperature has been reached, the device briefly vibrates. You do not have to stare at the display, as the vibration tells you when you can draw. This prevents the most common beginner's mistake – drawing too early and getting only warm air instead of vapour.

The Fenix Mini+ is ready to use after around 25 seconds. The manufacturer's stated time of around 25 seconds is good for a compact convection device. In practice, the exact time depends on the target temperature: it is faster at 180 °C than at 221 °C.

The brief vibration reliably signals the moment when you can begin. This prevents you from wasting herb on a premature draw – with the small 0.15-g chamber, every fill matters.

The Mini+ contains a built-in 1600-mAh lithium-polymer battery. This keeps the weight low and provides around 35 minutes of continuous use per charge – enough for several solo sessions with the small chamber. It is charged via USB-C; a full charge takes approximately 80 minutes.

One clever detail is that you can check the battery level at any time with a short press of a button – even when the device is switched off. This lets you know whether there is enough power left before you set off. The battery is not replaceable; anyone wishing to vape for longer can recharge it from a power bank in between sessions. As a travel or backup device, its capacity is generally more than sufficient.

The Mini+'s mouthpiece sits at the top above the chamber and directs the vapour upwards. The key advantage over the old Fenix Mini is the removable mouthpiece screen: you can simply take the screen out for cleaning instead of poking around inside a fixed channel. This keeps the air path clear and the flavour clean.

If the screen becomes coated with resin over time, soak it in isopropyl alcohol for a few minutes, rinse it with water and reinstall it. Replacement screens and replacement mouthpieces are available separately – they are frequently requested wear parts because the screen eventually needs replacing under intensive use. A clean screen is the simplest way to maintain good draw resistance and flavour from the Mini+ over the long term.

Despite its size, the Mini+ is WPA-compatible: a water-pipe adapter lets you connect it to a small bong or bubbler so that the vapour is additionally filtered and cooled by the water. As the vapour path inside the compact housing is short and can become warm during consecutive draws, water cooling provides a noticeable benefit here.

The adapter is available separately. At home, the bubbler combination is the most pleasant way to use the Mini+: it provides cool, smooth draws that the small design cannot otherwise deliver. On the go, you can simply use it directly with the mouthpiece.

The Mini+ is compatible with dosing capsules – small containers that you fill with herb in advance and then place inside the chamber. This is particularly practical with the small 0.15-g chamber: you can prepare several capsules at home and replace them in seconds while out and about without handling loose herb.

This keeps the chamber cleaner and makes switching between different strains easy. For a stealth device that is often used on the go, the capsule system is the most convenient way to operate it. If you prefer filling the chamber with loose herb, simply leave out the capsule.

Operation is mechanical and does not require an app:

1. Switching on: Quickly press the power button several times. The display activates and shows the target temperature.
2. Filling the chamber: Remove the mouthpiece and loosely add medium-fine ground herb (do not tamp it down), or insert a dosing capsule.
3. Selecting the temperature: Use the buttons to set the desired number of degrees (120–221 °C).
4. Heating: After around 25 seconds, the device vibrates – the target temperature has now been reached.
5. Drawing: Inhale slowly and evenly. Shorter draws are sufficient with the small chamber.

You can check the battery level at any time with a short press of a button. To switch the device off, press the power button several times again.

A few simple adjustments make a difference with the Mini+:

• Grind: medium-fine and even. Reduce the temperature by 5–10 °C for more finely ground herb.
• Fill quantity: loosely fill the small chamber without compressing it – air must be able to flow through.
• Temperature ramp: start low (at around 170 °C) for maximum flavour, then increase the temperature to release the remaining active compounds.
• Use a bubbler: The short vapour path becomes warm during consecutive draws – a WPA with water cooling makes the draws noticeably smoother.

Because the chamber is small, the Mini+ uses material particularly efficiently: you need little material per session and can still extract plenty of aroma at the right temperature.

Within the Fenix family, the Fenix Pro is the larger sister model with greater endurance. The two differ more fundamentally than their names might suggest:

• Heating principle: The Mini+ uses convection, while the Pro uses pure convection. According to the manufacturers' technical specifications, both models use convection; the Pro is larger and offers greater endurance.
• Battery: 1600 mAh in the Mini+ compared with 2300 mAh in the Pro – the Pro offers significantly longer battery life.
• Temperature: The Mini+ starts as low as 120 °C, whereas the Pro starts at 160 °C. The Mini+ provides greater scope for very low-temperature flavour experiments.
• Size and chamber: The Mini+ is more compact and has a smaller 0.15-g chamber, while the Pro is larger and better suited to longer sessions.

Conclusion: The Mini+ is the right choice when stealth, a pocket-sized format and a low starting temperature are the top priorities. The Fenix Pro is the device for longer sessions, greater battery life and the clearest convection flavour.

The Mini+ is easy to maintain but benefits from regular cleaning:

• After every session: Sweep out the chamber with the supplied brush and remove loose residue while the device is still slightly warm.
• Weekly: Soak the removable mouthpiece screen and the mouthpiece in isopropyl alcohol (at least 90 %) for a few minutes, rinse them with water and allow them to dry.
• If draw resistance increases: Check the screen and replace it if necessary.

Important: do not put water into the chamber – use only isopropyl alcohol or dry cleaning methods. Do not use sharp metal objects inside the vapour path. If the battery will not be used for an extended period, it is best stored at approximately half charge and away from intense heat. Because the screen is removable, cleaning the Mini+ remains considerably easier than cleaning the old Fenix Mini.

The Fenix Mini+ is the right choice if you are looking for the smallest and most discreet vaporizer possible for use on the go and want some convection flavour without sacrificing convenient features such as dosing capsules, WPA compatibility and a removable screen. The low starting temperature of 120 °C and low weight make it a versatile travel and backup device.

It is less suitable if you plan longer or shared sessions (in which case the larger Fenix Pro, with its larger battery and chamber capacity, is worthwhile) or prefer pure convection. If you can live with the small chamber and built-in battery, the Mini+ is an affordable, well-equipped pocket-sized device.
