Vapor quality and flavor
The Solo 3 uses a glass stem as its vapor path — glass alters flavor less than plastic. The vapor is pure and aromatic, and the 220 °C max temperature allows stronger draws than the Crafty+’s 210 °C limit.
The Crafty+ relies on the proven Storz & Bickel cooling unit. Clouds are dense and even, vapor pleasantly cool. Taste-wise both are close — the Solo 3 is slightly purer, the Crafty+ slightly cooler.
Battery and daily use
The Solo 3 leads here. Its 5,000 mAh battery (18650) is replaceable — a spare costs ~€5 and doubles runtime. Pass-through charging lets you vape while plugged in. The 15-second heat-up saves real time day to day.
The Crafty+ has a built-in battery with no swap option. When it dies, you charge. On the Plus side, the Crafty+ is more compact and pocketable. The 60-second heat-up feels slow by comparison.
Cleaning and maintenance
The Solo 3 shines with its removable glass stem. Soak in isopropanol for 20 minutes, rinse, done. The ceramic chamber itself only needs occasional brushing. Replacement glass stems cost ~€8 and last years with normal use.
The Crafty+ requires regular replacement of the sealing rings in the cooling unit. The cooling unit itself can be disassembled and soaked in isopropanol. The Wear & Tear set (~€15) includes everything needed for about six months. Without dosing capsules, the chamber gunks up faster.
Overall, the Solo 3 is easier to maintain: fewer parts, simpler system, cheaper replacements. Using the Crafty+ with capsules significantly reduces the cleaning effort though.
Who should buy which?
Solo 3: You want the best flavor in this price range. Replaceable battery and pass-through matter to you. You like the glass vapor path concept. Fast heat-up (15s) counts.
Crafty+: You want the most compact Storz & Bickel portable. S&B build quality matters to you. You don’t need a swappable battery.
