How to Make ABV Tincture
An ABV tincture is one of the most versatile ways to use your already vaped cannabis. A few drops under the tongue or added to a drink, and you’re done. The alcohol extraction pulls out every last cannabinoid.
What is ABV?
ABV stands for “Already Been Vaped” — it’s the cannabis left over after vaporizing. Because it’s already been heated, the decarboxylation process is complete and the cannabinoids are active. You can use ABV directly in recipes without any additional heating.
Ingredients
- 1 oz ABV (or more)
- High-proof alcohol (Everclear or similar, min. 60% ABV)
- Blender
- Cheese cloth
- 2 sealable glass jars
- Small dropper bottles for storage
Instructions
- Grind your ABV as finely as possible in a blender before starting.
- Combine the finely ground ABV and high-proof alcohol in the blender.
- Blend in short 2–3 second bursts several times to fully mix.
- Pour the mixture into a sealable glass jar. Seal tightly.
- Store the jar in a cold, dark place (a cupboard or fridge) for 2 weeks, shaking it gently every day.
- After 2 weeks, strain the mixture through cheesecloth into a clean jar to remove all plant material.
- Pour the finished tincture into small dropper bottles. Store in a cool, dark place.
Tips
- The longer you let it sit, the stronger and more full-spectrum the extraction. Two weeks is the minimum — four weeks is even better.
- Start with just 1–2 drops under your tongue and wait 30 minutes before increasing the dose.
- If you’re in a hurry, you can strain immediately after blending — it will be less potent but still effective.
