How to Make ABV Infused Olive Oil

ABV infused olive oil is one of the most versatile cannabis ingredients you can make. Once it’s ready, drizzle it over pasta, add it to salad dressing, or use it as the fat base in almost any recipe.

What is ABV?

ABV stands for “Already Been Vaped” — it’s the cannabis left over after vaporizing. Because it’s already been heated, the decarboxylation process is complete and the cannabinoids are active. You can use ABV directly in recipes without any additional heating.

Ingredients

  • ABV
  • Extra virgin olive oil
  • 16 oz mason jar with lid
  • Cloth to wrap the jar
  • Cheesecloth or fine strainer

Instructions

  1. Place your ABV and olive oil in the 16 oz mason jar. The ratio is flexible — more ABV means stronger oil.
  2. Seal the lid tightly.
  3. Wrap the jar in a cloth to keep out light.
  4. Store in a cool, dry place for one week. Avoid direct sunlight, extreme temperatures, and exposure to air.
  5. Gently shake the jar every day to distribute the ingredients.
  6. After one week, either use the oil directly (ABV included) or strain through cheesecloth to remove plant material.

Tips

  • Use extra virgin olive oil for the best flavour — regular olive oil also works but tastes less good.
  • Store finished oil in a dark cupboard or the fridge to prevent it going rancid.
  • The longer you infuse, the stronger the oil. Two weeks produces a noticeably more potent result.
