How to Make ABV Hot Chocolate
ABV hot chocolate is the perfect cold-evening drink — rich, warming, and gently relaxing. Like the ABV tea recipe, whole milk acts as the fat carrier that makes the cannabinoids absorb properly.
What is ABV?
ABV stands for “Already Been Vaped” — it’s the cannabis left over after vaporizing. Because it’s already been heated, the decarboxylation process is complete and the cannabinoids are active. You can use ABV directly in recipes without any additional heating.
Ingredients
- 1 cup whole milk
- ~0.5g finely ground ABV
- Your favourite hot chocolate mix
- Thermos or teapot with lid
- Coffee filter or fine strainer
- Coffee mug
Instructions
- Grind your ABV as finely as possible.
- Bring 1 cup of whole milk to a boil on the stove or in the microwave.
- Pour the hot milk into a thermos or teapot and add approximately 0.5g of ABV.
- Close the lid and let it sit for 25 minutes, stirring every few minutes.
- Strain the milk through a coffee filter or fine strainer into a mug.
- Stir in your favourite hot chocolate mix and enjoy.
Tips
- Whole milk works much better than low-fat alternatives — the fat content is essential for cannabinoid absorption.
- Add a pinch of cayenne pepper for a Mexican hot chocolate variation.
- Sip slowly. This is a drink to relax with — effects take 45–90 minutes to appear.
