Zeus Ion

The Zeus Ion offers three preset temperature levels, cycled by pressing the button. No degree readout, no display, no app. An LED ring around the button shows the active level by color.

• Level 1 (low): Flavor-focused hits at lower heat. Minimal visible vapor, full terpene expression. Best for aromatic concentrates.
• Level 2 (medium): Balances flavor and vapor production. The everyday setting for most users.

Three presets are plenty for a concentrate pen. Precise single-degree temperature control is rare in wax pens and matters less with concentrates than with dry herbs. If you need exact control, you are probably looking at a different price bracket entirely.

At 40 grams, the Zeus Ion is one of the lightest vaporizers you can buy. It looks like a thick ballpoint pen — and that is the entire point. Discretion is not a bonus feature here; it is the core concept. In your breast pocket, in your hand, on a desk: it blends right in.

Build quality is good for the price class. The body feels solid, no sharp edges, no cheap plastic. Zeus put effort into the finish, and it shows. The magnetic mouthpiece cap snaps firmly and does not rattle. Small details like these separate the Ion from the cheapest pens on the market.

The pen form factor brings trade-offs though. The charging port sits at the bottom. And the coil is exposed when the cap comes off — pocket lint is this device's natural enemy.

The 650 mAh battery sounds small — and it is. But concentrate sessions are short. A hit or two, and the dose is done. In practice, the battery lasts for 15–25 short sessions, depending on temperature level and draw length. Occasional evening users can go 2–3 days between charges. All-day users will need to charge nightly.

Charging takes roughly 45–60 minutes from empty to full. No pass-through charging — the Ion stays off while plugged in. Not a major issue for a pen you only use briefly at a time.

The battery is non-removable. Swappable batteries in a 40-gram pen would be impractical anyway. After 1–2 years of heavy use, capacity will decline — more acceptable at this price point than on a 300-euro device.

Concentrate pens get dirty differently than dry herb vaporizers. Instead of plant residue, wax buildup accumulates on the coil and inside the chamber. Regular cleaning is not optional — skip it and flavor suffers fast.

• After each session: Run a quick burn-off on the highest setting without any material loaded. This incinerates leftover residue.
• Weekly: Wipe the chamber with a cotton swab dipped in isopropyl alcohol. Remove and clean the mouthpiece.
• Every 2–4 weeks: Replace the coil. When flavor turns harsh or vapor output drops, it is time.

Replacement coils cost about 3–8 euros each depending on the retailer. At 12–24 per year, that adds up to 40–190 euros annually. Keep this in mind when comparing with other concentrate devices — some competitors use longer-lasting ceramic chambers without consumable parts.
