The Vestratto Tornado is a battery-free vaporizer from Canada, powered by a butane torch or the FORGE induction heater. Its patented CopperCore heating system layers copper between two sheets of medical-grade stainless steel, distributing heat evenly across the entire chamber. A secondary atomizer breaks down vapor particles into a finer mist, noticeably increasing vapor density.
The XXL Herb Chamber holds approximately 0.3 g, making it 55 percent larger than the Vestratto ThermoCore XL. A 14mm WPA is included, so the Tornado connects directly to a water pipe. At 41.4 g, with a fully disassemblable build and purely mechanical operation, the device uses no electronics, batteries, or wear parts. In Europe, pricing starts at 254.90 EUR.

CopperCore Heating & Dual Atomizer
At the heart of the Tornado sits the CopperCore heating system. A layer of copper is embedded between two walls of medical-grade stainless steel. Copper conducts heat roughly 15 times faster than steel, which means the heat from the flame or induction heater distributes evenly across the entire chamber wall instead of creating a single hot spot.
Vestratto rates the Tornado's thermal mass at 3,250 Joules at full soak — about 20 percent more than the Anvil. In practice, that means more stored energy per heat cycle, longer draws, and denser vapor.
Dual Atomizer Principle
The Tornado uses two atomizers in series. The first atomizer produces vapor when hot air meets the plant material. The second atomizer sits behind it and breaks the vapor particles into a finer mist. According to Vestratto, this increases bioavailability and creates the characteristically dense clouds the Tornado is known for.
Heat Source: Torch vs. FORGE
- Butane torch: Heat-up in 10–20 seconds. Cheap and available everywhere. Requires some practice positioning the flame.
- FORGE induction heater: Heat-up in 20–30 seconds. More even heating, no open flame, more reproducible results. Sold separately.
Materials & Build Quality
The Tornado is made from a small number of high-quality materials. Every part that contacts the air path is crafted from medical-grade stainless steel or titanium. No plastic or rubber is present in the vapor path.
Construction Details
- CopperCore chamber: Stainless steel outer wall, copper in the middle, stainless steel inner wall. The outer shell is magnetic so the FORGE induction heater can hold the device.
- Titanium airpath: A spiral element made of titanium cools the vapor on its way to the mouthpiece and collects reclaim residue that can be harvested later.
- Viton seals: Used only at the 14mm WPA connection — not in the vapor path.
- Hexagonal grip: The XXL chamber has a hexagonal cross-section for a secure hold and easy removal.
Vestratto manufactures the Tornado in small batches in Canada. Each device is individually inspected before leaving the workshop. Total weight is 41.4 g, dimensions approximately 7.7 x 3.1 cm. A direct competitor is the MAD Heaters TEMPEST 2, which also uses zirconia balls but additionally offers an adjustable bowl and a built-in induction sleeve for IH compatibility.
Usage & Technique
Loading the Chamber
The XXL Herb Chamber holds approximately 0.3 g of plant material. Vestratto recommends a medium grind and loose packing — do not tamp too tightly, so air can flow through the material. The chamber is removable and can be loaded and cleaned separately.
Heating
When heating with a torch, the flame is directed at the underside of the CopperCore chamber. With the FORGE induction heater, the Tornado sits in a cradle and heats automatically. A click mechanism signals when operating temperature is reached.
No cold starts: Vestratto recommends against using the Tornado from a cold state, as thermal seizing can occur. Heat until the click, then inhale.
Inhalation
Airflow is primarily convective — air enters the chamber from the sides. Each load delivers 1 to 3 strong draws. The Tornado is not a session vaporizer: it produces few but extremely dense hits. After that, the material is largely extracted.
Water Pipe Recommended
Due to the high vapor density, the throat hit without a water pipe can be intense. Vestratto therefore includes a 14mm male seal WPA in the box. A water pipe softens the hit and makes the vapor more pleasant.
Cleaning & Maintenance
The Tornado can be fully disassembled. All metal parts are cleanable with isopropyl alcohol.
Disassembly
The XXL chamber is removed and cleaned separately. The titanium spiral element in the airpath collects reclaim residue over time. This can be harvested or dissolved with isopropanol.
Cleaning Steps
- Remove the chamber and let it cool down
- Brush out remaining material with a brush
- Soak all metal parts in isopropyl alcohol (10–15 minutes is enough)
- Rinse under running water and let dry
O-Rings
The Viton O-rings are located only at the WPA connection. They are inexpensive and easy to replace. Under normal use, they last many months.
Wear Parts
The Tornado has no electronic wear parts. There is no battery that degrades, no heating coil that burns out, and no display that can break. With normal care, the device lasts practically indefinitely.

Tornado vs. Anvil vs. Tempest 2
Vestratto makes three vaporizers that differ in hit strength, flavor, and chamber size. Here is a direct comparison.
| Feature | Tornado | Anvil | Tempest 2 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Hit Strength | Extreme | Strong | Medium-Strong |
| Flavor | Good | Very good | Best |
| Draws per Load | 1–2 | 2–4 | 3–5 |
| Chamber Size | ~0.3 g (XXL) | ~0.1 g | ~0.15 g |
| Heating | Hybrid + Dual Atomizer | Hybrid | Convection |
| WPA | 14mm (included) | 10mm | 10mm |
| Water Pipe Needed? | Recommended | Optional | Optional |
| Weight | 41.4 g | ~30 g | ~25 g |
| RRP (USD) | 289 USD | 239 USD | 225 USD |
Summary: The Tornado is the hardest-hitting Vestratto — built for maximum vapor density through a water pipe. The Anvil is more versatile and works well without a water pipe too. The Tempest 2 delivers the best flavor and suits longer sessions with multiple draws.
