The Tinymight 2 is a handcrafted convection vaporizer from Finland. It offers both on-demand and session modes, a physical temperature dial, and swappable 18650 batteries. On-demand heat-up time: about 5 seconds.
1. Insert and Charge Your Battery
Unscrew the bottom cap and insert an 18650 battery (positive end up). The Tinymight 2 has no built-in charging port – you charge the battery externally in an 18650 charger. A fully charged 2800 mAh cell lasts 8–12 sessions depending on usage. Tip: grab a spare battery so you never run dry on the go.
2. Grind and Load
Remove the mouthpiece. Grind your herbs medium to medium-coarse – a bit coarser than you'd use with hybrid vapes, because pure convection relies on hot air flowing through. Fill about 0.1 g loosely into the chamber. Don't pack it, the air needs to flow straight through the material. Put the mouthpiece back on.
3. Pick Your Mode and Set Temperature
The temperature dial sits on the side of the device. Turn it to your preferred level:
- Low (left) – roughly 170–180 °C / 338–356 °F, pure flavor
- Mid – roughly 190–200 °C / 374–392 °F, balanced
- High (right) – roughly 220–240 °C / 428–464 °F, max extraction
On-demand mode: Hold the button and draw at the same time. The heater only runs while you hold it. Session mode: Click the button 3 times quickly – the device heats continuously for about 3 minutes.
4. Draw Technique
On-demand: Hold the button, wait 3–5 seconds, then draw slowly. Release the button when you've had enough – the heater stops instantly. Pull slowly and steadily for 8–10 seconds. Drawing too fast cools the heating element and cuts vapor production.
Session: Just draw whenever you like. The device holds the temperature steady.
5. After Your Session
In on-demand mode, the heater shuts off the moment you release the button. In session mode, it auto-stops after about 3 minutes. Let the device cool briefly. Remove the mouthpiece, tap out the chamber, and brush it clean with a small brush. Soak the glass mouthpiece in isopropyl alcohol every 1–2 weeks.
5 Common Beginner Mistakes
- Grinding too fine – With pure convection, fine material clogs the air path. Medium to coarse is the way to go.
- Overpacking the chamber – Hot air needs to flow through the herbs. Fill loosely, three-quarters full at most.
- Drawing too early in on-demand – Give the heater 3–5 seconds of lead time, otherwise you get barely any vapor.
- Forgetting to charge the battery – Without an external charger, you'll be stuck with a dead cell. Always carry a spare.
- Mixing up session and on-demand – 3 clicks = session (keeps heating). Hold = on-demand (stops on release).
Research context: A study in the Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences (Hazekamp et al., 2006) showed that vaporisation at controlled temperatures releases over 95% of target compounds while largely avoiding combustion by-products. Source: PubMed 16637053
