Quick verdict: Who is the Frolic right for?
The Frolic is right for you if you want to switch between short individual draws and longer sessions and want to replace the battery yourself. It combines both operating modes in one device, provides continuously adjustable airflow, and can be disassembled without tools.
It is less suitable for anyone who requires a glass vapor path or is looking for a lightweight pocket device: With the battery installed, the Frolic weighs 245 g. You need an additional adapter to connect it to a water pipe.
In session mode, pressing the ON button starts the heater. It remains on until you press the button again or the configured timer expires. You can set the session duration from 100 to 500 seconds and the temperature from 40 to 220 °C.
In on-demand mode, the Frolic heats only while you hold down the ON button, and you inhale while holding the button. The range here is 40 to 240 °C; the display counts the draw duration from 0 to 25 seconds. After you release the button, the heater retains some of its heat so the next draw can begin without a long wait.
According to the manual, the initial heat-up takes around 5 seconds, while each subsequent heat-up in on-demand mode takes less than two seconds. During heat-up, the LED and temperature display light up orange; once the target temperature has been reached, the device vibrates and both indicators turn green.
According to the manufacturer, the first draw produces less vapor, while the second should be full: The hot air must first flow through the herb. According to Limelight, the amount of vapor produced depends on the grind, packing density, temperature, draw length, and airflow setting.

Heater and oven: Convection with a conduction component
The Frolic uses a 120-watt stainless steel heater (CTS). Extraction takes place through hot air, meaning convection; the oven absorbs only part of the heat directly through contact. Limelight therefore describes it as having a fixed ratio of convection to conduction.
The oven is made of hard-anodized 6000-series aluminum and holds approximately 0.25 g or 1.4 cm³. According to the manufacturer, stirring during use is unnecessary because the herb is extracted evenly.
The housing is made of Ultem (PEI) and PEEK. The entire airpath is made of CNC-machined PEEK and, according to the manufacturer, is isolated from the other components. The primary metal parts are the oven and the cooling unit's locking wheel, both of which are made of aluminum.
Limelight describes PEEK as inert at these temperatures and comparable to glass in its properties. This is a manufacturer claim; we do not have an independent emissions test for the Frolic. Anyone who only accepts glass in the vapor path should choose a different device.

Adjusting the airflow
The airflow can be adjusted from 0 to 25 liters per minute. To do so, turn the AFC ring on the mouthpiece: clockwise for less air and counterclockwise for more. Then hold the ring in place and realign the mouthpiece.
The elliptical mouthpiece is located on the back and can be rotated in any direction. Its wide opening slows the air before inhalation, which the manufacturer says is intended to reduce throat irritation.
To use a water pipe, remove the mouthpiece and airflow ring and attach a compatible water pipe adapter. Limelight offers 14- and 18-mm adapters separately; they are not included.
The current manual warns that direct vapor above 210 °C may be too harsh for some users. Limelight recommends caution or additional cooling in that case.
A Molicel P50B in the 21700 format with 5000 mAh is included. You can charge it through the USB-C port at 5 V and 2 A or in an external charger. According to the manual, replacement batteries should support a discharge current of more than 25 A and have an undamaged wrapper.
For safety reasons, the Frolic switches off while the USB-C cable is plugged in. Using it while charging is therefore not supported. If you are planning long sessions, bring a charged spare battery. The manufacturer does not specify a fixed number of sessions per charge.

Controls: Display, LED, and vibration
The Frolic is turned on and off by pressing the ON button three times quickly. The 0.96-inch color display shows the battery level, mode, temperature, and time. Press UP and DOWN simultaneously to switch between settings; if you hold UP or DOWN for more than five seconds, the value changes in increments of 5.
When the device is switched off, pressing UP and DOWN simultaneously opens the setup menu. There you can select Celsius or Fahrenheit and disable the vibration and LED. The device remembers the temperature and session time until the next use.
Only load the oven when it is cold. Pull the cooling unit upward to remove it; it is held in place only by the housing and the oven's O-ring. Fill the aluminum oven to the rim with ground herb and lightly tamp it with your finger or the included tool.
Then remove any herb residue from the rim with the brush and press the cooling unit back down until it sits flush. Before refilling, use the tool to remove the spent material. Brush off the oven and cooling unit screens after every use.
Cleaning the Frolic: Oven, cooling unit, and screens
According to the manual, preheat the visibly dirty oven to 60 °C and wipe it out with cotton soaked in alcohol. To disassemble the cooling unit, remove the mouthpiece and AFC ring, loosen the locking wheel counterclockwise, and push out the internal component with the tool.
Remove the O-rings before soaking. Clean the other suitable individual parts in warm water or alcohol, rinse them, and allow them to dry completely. The aluminum locking wheel and the O-rings are not dishwasher-safe. The fine screens belong in the oven, while the coarse screens belong in the cooling unit.
After a hard impact or fall, the temperature control may malfunction. If the display shows “DEVICE TOO HOT”, you should stop using the device immediately and contact support. Limelight describes a possible temperature-control malfunction after an impact; the error message alone does not prove any specific cause. Continuing to heat the device risks triggering the “CHECK HEATER” message and requiring a manufacturer repair.
Limelight provides a 2 years warranty and a 14-day return policy through its own store. The manufacturer considers a heater that overheats due to continued use to be misuse, which is not covered by the warranty. After a fall, you should therefore inspect the device before using it again.
