Brass Construction
The Baroma OG is made of pure brass. Inside the housing is a gemstone chamber that controls airflow and, thanks to the additional mass, retains heat better and replenishes it faster. QaromaShop currently offers only 3-mm ruby beads for it. The chamber is not designed to operate without beads and must not be overfilled.
Heating Coil, Controller, and Bowl
Heating is provided by a standard 20-mm heating coil connected to the PID controller. Because a raised step is designed to stabilize the coil and help it fit more snugly, only 20-mm coils with 5 clockwise turns are compatible; the connector is a five-pin XLR connector. According to QaromaShop's FAQ, the pin configuration matches that of coils also available on major online marketplaces.
You can choose the glass adapter bowl in short, deep, or short with dimples, and with a 14- or 18-mm ground joint or both; a brass bowl is also optionally available. The Baroma OG's ground joint is slightly shorter, which, according to the manufacturer, provides a little more capacity in the bowl. QaromaShop does not provide a temperature recommendation specifically for the Baroma.
What Is Included in the Kit
The DIY kit includes a brass housing, glass adapter bowl, fitted 20-mm coil, PID controller with a US or EU plug, a coil handle made of stabilized walnut wood, a porcelain stand, a bag of 3-mm ruby beads, 17-mm stainless steel screens, and a stainless steel scoop and stirring tool. No glass components other than the adapter bowl are included; according to the manufacturer, the ground joints use standard laboratory glassware sizes.
QaromaShop excludes warranties and returns. The only exception is merchandise that arrives defective or damaged and is reported within 24 hours with a photo or video.
Baroma OG or Baroma 2.0?
On the Baroma 2.0 page, QaromaShop mentions an additional ledge for a 14-mm screen: This allows the chamber to be filled to the end of the ground joint or, with the screen, to the OG height before the ground joint. The Baroma OG page does not mention this ledge. Both are made of brass, use a 20-mm coil, and belong to the limited-edition Baroma line.
For anyone primarily focused on flavor, QaromaShop recommends the Qaroma, Taroma, or Ceroma over any of the Baroma models.
