Norddampf Relict

The Relict uses a hybrid heating system. The stainless steel chamber is heated from the outside (conduction), while hot air simultaneously flows through the material (convection). This combination ensures even extraction and good flavour throughout the entire session.

Stainless steel as a chamber material is flavour-neutral, durable and easy to clean. A cotton bud with a little isopropanol is enough to get the chamber spotless again after a few sessions.

The convective component becomes apparent in the draw behaviour. Slow, steady draws produce the best vapour. At lower temperature levels, flavour takes the lead; at higher levels, vapour volume increases. Thanks to the compact chamber size, the material is used efficiently -- minimal waste, maximum yield.

Instead of stepless control, Norddampf uses five clearly defined temperature levels. This keeps operation simple: switch on, choose a level, vape.

• Level 1 (170 °C): Light, flavourful vapour.
• Level 2 (182 °C): Slightly more volume, with terpenes in the foreground.
• Level 3 (193 °C): A balanced ratio between flavour and vapour density.
• Level 4 (204 °C): Dense vapour, stronger extraction.
• Level 5 (220 °C): Full extraction, very dense vapour.

Heat-up time is around 25-30 seconds. The device vibrates to indicate when the temperature has been reached. Many users start at level 2-3 and increase to 4-5 as the session progresses.

A genuine standout feature: the Relict accepts Storz & Bickel dosing capsules without any modification. The same capsules used in the Mighty, Crafty or Volcano Hybrid fit directly into the Relict's chamber.

Dosing capsules keep the chamber clean, make reloading easier on the go and allow several portions to be prepared in advance. Open the chamber, insert the capsule, close the chamber -- done. After the session, the used capsule goes into the capsule caddy and a fresh one goes in.

If you already own accessories from Storz & Bickel, you save yourself from buying new ones. The 40-pack of dosing capsules costs around 25-30 euros and lasts a very long time with normal use.

At 145 grams, the Relict is one of the lightest vaporizers with a replaceable battery. For comparison: the Crafty+ weighs 135 g (fixed battery), while the XMAX V3 Pro comes in at 120 g (18650, but without dosing capsule compatibility).

The housing looks simple and discreet. Available in black and silver, the Relict looks more like a technical gadget than a vaporizer. It is barely noticeable in a trouser pocket.

Norddampf develops and tests in Germany. The build quality is clean: no sharp edges, even panel gaps, solid feel in the hand. The mouthpiece sits firmly, the battery cover locks securely, and the buttons have a precise pressure point.

Using an optional water pipe adapter (WPA), the Relict can be connected to any bong or bubbler with a 14-mm or 18-mm joint. The vapour is passed through the water, which cools and moisturises it. At the higher temperature levels (4-5), this makes a noticeable difference.

Other accessories include replacement mouthpieces, additional dosing capsules and cleaning accessories. The 18650 batteries are available in different capacities: from 2600 mAh (standard) up to 3500-mAh cells.

For cleaning, isopropanol (at least 90%), cotton buds and a small brush are recommended. The chamber should be cleaned every 5-10 sessions. When using dosing capsules, the chamber stays clean for significantly longer.
