POTV Lobo

The Lobo suits you if you enjoy fixed-duration sessions and want to swap the battery yourself. It heats the chamber for an adjustable period of 3 to 6 minutes, rather than heating only on the draw. The replaceable 18650 battery and interchangeable glass make it a device for home and on the go.

It is less suited to short individual draws and to users who prefer a fixed mouthpiece without glass. In their own review, the manufacturer notes as criticisms that without the glass attachment there is no complete mouthpiece solution, and that glass is not ideal for travel.

The Lobo combines conduction and convection in a session-based heating system. The temperature can be set between 160 and 221 °C. The device vibrates when switched on and again when the selected temperature has been reached.

POTV measures approximately 40 seconds for a cold start to 198 °C with a full battery. Near the end of the charge, the same start took over 50 seconds; an already warm chamber reduces the waiting time.

According to the POTV review, the Lobo houses a titanium bowl above a stainless steel heater; the airpath is isolated and free from silicone. The glass adapter is made from PEEK, a heat-resistant plastic. The chamber has a diameter of 13 mm.

The product page states up to 0.2 g of herb per load. In testing, the best result was approximately 0.18 g, loosely packed: performance dropped when the chamber was packed too tightly. Stirring during the session was not necessary in the test.

The manual recommends a burn-off before the first load: switch the device on, set it to 221 °C and let it run until it switches itself off. Repeat this a total of three times.

POTV suggests starting temperatures of 199 °C for herb and 221 °C for concentrates. From there you can adjust in small steps up or down until the flavor and vapor density suit you.

Pressing the power button three times within two seconds switches the Lobo on or off. Plus and minus set the target temperature. The display shows the current temperature, target temperature, battery level and remaining session time.

Holding power and plus simultaneously opens the menu: timer from 3 to 6 minutes in 30-second steps, switching between °C and °F, and a rotated display. Holding power and minus for three seconds dims the display. A single press of the power button whilst the device is off shows the battery level.

One dosing capsule is included; additional ones are available separately. Pre-filled capsules allow several sessions in a row without reloading the chamber in between.

A stainless steel mesh pad is included for concentrates. The current product page specifies it only for use together with a Lobo dosing capsule; the review describes a layering method of a little herb, concentrate, then herb again. Start with a very small amount — larger quantities will dirty the device.

A dimpled glass stem is included in the box. It slots into a glass adapter that is pushed onto the device. According to POTV, the curved glass stem, globe glass, Curved Mini Bubbler and the larger Gordito Mini Bubbler are also compatible.

For use with your own water pipe, POTV offers a Water Pipe Adapter fitting joints of 10, 14 and 18 mm. Bubblers with a 14 mm joint such as the Beaker or the Straight Tube work only via this adapter.

The glass adapter and battery door are available as Lobo-specific spare parts. POTV notes that both fit only the Lobo and not the POTV ONE. As a replacement battery, POTV stocks the same Samsung 35E with 3,500 mAh and 8 A.

In addition, capsule caddies, a charging tray for dosing capsules and a USB-C charger are available. Which parts a retailer stocks and what a set includes can be seen in the accessory list further down this page.

Empty the chamber after each session and brush it out. According to the POTV review, the screens can be removed and soaked. The cleaning instructions on the product page differentiate by material: silicone with warm water and mild washing-up liquid, exterior surfaces with a damp cloth only.

For the dimpled glass stem, POTV recommends warm water and a mild degreasing washing-up liquid; do not insert any objects into it. Alcohol can damage silicone and exterior surfaces, so a blanket alcohol clean of the entire device is not appropriate.

According to the product page, the Lobo measures 8.89 × 5.4 × 2.85 cm without glass and stands 10.16 cm tall with the glass mouthpiece. It weighs 150 g without and 156 g with glass. It is offered in black, blue and green.

In the box you will find the device, battery, dosing capsule, loading tool, spare O-ring, three screens, concentrate pad, cleaning brush, ridged glass mouthpiece, USB-C cable and manual. The power adapter is not included.

The Lobo is the brand's larger device. According to the POTV review, its chamber is approximately 40% larger in diameter at 13 mm than that of the POTV ONE. The Lobo also uses a replaceable 18650 battery.

Many glass parts are shared between both devices: POTV's compatibility lists name both the Lobo and the ONE for the Curved Mini Bubbler, Globe Glass, bent mouthpiece and Water Pipe Adapter. The Lobo's glass adapter and battery cap, however, are only compatible with the Lobo.

The Lobo cannot be used while charging, and there is no app. Without a glass attachment there is no fixed mouthpiece, and glass is more fragile on the go than plastic or metal.

POTV also notes in its own review that performance drops if the chamber is packed too tightly, and that the device may be a little too powerful for very light users. At around 150 g without glass, it sits noticeably in the hand.

Planet of the Vapes offers a 2-year warranty for the Lobo; the serial number is required for any claims. The additional 100-day satisfaction guarantee applies to purchases made in the POTV shop. Check with your respective retailer to find out which terms apply to your purchase.

In the Lobo price comparison you will find current prices, retailers and availability. Glass attachments and the power adapter are usually sold separately.
