How It Works
The Poby Model L uses an induction coil to heat the metal cap of a DynaVap vaporizer. An alternating current generates a magnetic field that creates eddy currents in the cap, producing heat directly in the metal. Heat-up takes roughly 8 to 12 seconds depending on the cap material and desired temperature. Compared to a jet flame, the heat distribution is more uniform, which tends to produce more consistent vapor. The DynaVap click still signals when the target temperature has been reached.
Design and Handling
The device has a cylindrical shape that fits comfortably in one hand. At the top there is an opening where you insert the DynaVap tip-first. A single button activates the heating cycle, and LED indicators show battery status and operation state. The housing is compact enough for a jacket pocket. Compared to larger induction heaters like the Ispire Wand or the Koil Bro, the Poby Model L is noticeably smaller, which makes it better suited for travel and outdoor use.
Battery and Charging
The internal lithium-ion battery provides enough capacity for about 20 to 30 heat cycles per charge. Charging happens via USB-C and takes around 90 minutes. The LED indicator changes color once the battery is fully charged. For a day out, the capacity is usually more than enough. Heavy users who rely on the Poby Model L as their primary heater will need to charge every one to two days depending on usage.
Flame vs. Induction and Other IH Devices
Compared to a traditional jet flame, the Poby Model L works reliably in windy conditions where a lighter might struggle. Compared to stationary induction heaters such as the Ispire Wand, it lacks fine-tuned power control. The trade-off is portability. For DynaVap users who want to leave the torch at home, the Poby Model L is a practical accessory. Those who want full temperature control may prefer a larger desktop induction heater with adjustable power settings.
Frequently Asked Questions
Yes, it works with all DynaVap devices that use a standard stainless steel cap. Titanium caps take slightly longer to heat but work as well.
Approximately 20 to 30 cycles on a full charge, depending on how long each cycle runs.
The manufacturer does not recommend using the device while it charges. Best to fully charge before use.
No, induction heating does not harm the cap. The heat is actually distributed more evenly than a flame, which is gentler on the cap over time.
Wipe the inside of the heating chamber with a dry cloth or soft brush. Avoid getting moisture into the device.
