About this vaporizer
The Ghost MV1 occupies a special place in portable vaporizer history. Ghost Vapes built it as a premium on-demand convection portable, and it delivered on that promise to a degree that still impresses. The body is stainless steel. Loading uses a small crucible system — you fill the crucible, drop it into the chamber, and you're set. Heat-up is around 10 seconds, and the vapour quality is genuinely excellent: dense, flavourful, and smooth in a way that budget conduction portables simply can't match.
On-demand heating means the device only draws power when you're actually drawing, which preserves battery life and keeps every hit fresh rather than letting material cook between puffs. The 2600mAh battery is replaceable, which was a standout feature. Passthrough charging via USB-C was ahead of its time. An app gave you granular temperature control down to individual degrees, with profiles you could save and switch between.
Ghost Vapes is no longer operating, so new units aren't available from official channels. The secondary market carries them, sometimes at high prices because the demand from enthusiasts has never really faded. If you find one in good condition — with spare crucibles — it's worth considering seriously. The three-year warranty obviously no longer applies for new buyers, but the hardware itself tends to hold up well.
It's not for everyone: the crucible loading takes a moment to learn, cleaning requires some attention to the airpath, and the price on the used market can be steep. But for the vapour quality delivered, the MV1 remains a benchmark. Few portables, past or present, do on-demand convection this well.

The Ghost MV1 from Ghost Vapes is a portable vaporizer for dry herbs and concentrates. The device uses pure convection heating and an on-demand principle: the heater is only activated when you inhale and stops immediately afterwards. No material is wasted between draws.
The Crucible System separates the herb into a removable insert. The maximum temperature is 220 °C, and the battery has 2600 mAh. The Ghost MV1 is one of the premium-priced portable devices with high-end build quality. In the price comparison across 4 shops, you can compare the current price.
On-demand convection: heating only while inhaling
The Ghost MV1 uses an on-demand heating system. Unlike session vaporizers, which heat the chamber continuously, the MV1's heater only kicks in when the user inhales through the mouthpiece. After the draw, the heating element switches off immediately.
The advantage: no herb is roasted or wasted between draws. If you want to take a single draw every 5 minutes, you can do so without emptying the chamber. That makes the MV1 particularly efficient in terms of material use.
Heat-up time is around 3-5 seconds -- fast enough for spontaneous draws. The pure convection delivers clean, flavourful vapour that surpasses many session devices in quality.
Research context: A study in the Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences (Hazekamp et al., 2006) showed that vaporisation at controlled temperatures releases over 95 % of the desired active compounds while largely avoiding combustion by-products. Source: PubMed 16637053
Crucible System: capsule loading
Instead of filling the herb directly into the chamber, the MV1 uses removable Crucibles. These small metal inserts are filled separately and then placed into the device. Swapping them takes seconds.
The Crucibles come in two versions: one for dry herbs and one for concentrates. The herb version holds around 0,1-0,15 g of finely ground material. Several Crucibles can be prepared in advance and taken with you on the go.
The chamber stays clean because the material does not come into direct contact with the device walls. Cleaning is mostly limited to occasionally wiping out the vapour path.
Build quality and battery
The Ghost MV1 stands out because of its unusual design: a metallic housing with a flip-up lid for the Crucible compartment. Build quality is high -- aluminium chassis, no visible panel gaps, solid feel in the hand.
The removable battery has 2600 mAh and can be taken out via a magnetic connection. A spare battery makes sense for longer days out. Charging is via USB-C or an optional charging dock.
Temperature control works via 5 preset levels, which can be changed via the app (Bluetooth) or directly on the device. There is no fully adjustable temperature setting, but the presets cover the relevant range.
Who is the Ghost MV1 suitable for?
The Ghost MV1 is aimed at experienced users who appreciate on-demand convection and are willing to pay more than for session devices. Vapour quality is among the best in the portable segment.
For beginners, the Crucible system is unusual and the learning curve is steeper than with a simple session vaporizer. The draw technique -- slow, steady, around 10-15 seconds per draw -- takes a bit of practice.
