Instead of pressing buttons, the Firefly 2+ activates via two touch sensors on the sides. Place both thumbs on the sensors, wait 3 seconds — done. The heat-up time under 5 seconds is among the fastest for any convection portable. For comparison: the Mighty+ needs about 60 seconds, the Crafty+ around 90 seconds.

Touch activation has a practical advantage: no accidental starts in your pocket. Without touching both sensors simultaneously, nothing happens. The downside is battery life — the 770 mAh battery manages about 30-40 draws depending on temperature. That covers 4-6 bowls. Heavy users may find this limiting, but as an on-demand device, the Firefly is designed for short, targeted sessions rather than marathon use.

The vapor chamber and airpath are made from heat-resistant borosilicate glass — the same material used in lab equipment and high-end water pipes. Unlike stainless steel or plastic paths, glass adds zero taste of its own. The laser-cut micro-nozzles at the chamber base distribute hot air evenly across all material.

For flavor purists, the Firefly 2+ is particularly appealing. Terpenes at low temperatures (160-180 °C) come through clearly and distinctly. The chamber holds about 0.1-0.15 g of finely ground herbs — less than most session vapes, but perfect for on-demand use. Important: don't pack too tightly. Air needs to flow freely through the material, otherwise vapor production suffers noticeably.

The Firefly app (iOS and Android) allows stepless temperature adjustment between 150 and 260 °C. The device itself has no temperature display — only colored LEDs indicate charge level and ready status. For full control, the app is recommended, though after a while you'll find your favorite temperature and rarely need to change it.

Temperature tips: 175-195 °C works best for herbs — most terpenes unfold here. Above 200 °C, vapor gets denser but flavor diminishes. For concentrates (with the optional pad), 230-260 °C is recommended. The app also supports profiles for different temperature settings, which is handy when switching between herbs and concentrates.

The Firefly 2+ weighs 150 g — noticeably lighter than a Mighty+ (235 g) but heavier than pen-style vapes like the G Pen Dash+ (75 g). The body is made from magnesium alloy, which is both lightweight and durable. The lid is magnetic and removes easily for loading and cleaning.

The built-in 770 mAh battery charges via USB-C in about 45 minutes. Passthrough charging is not supported — you can't vape while charging. Battery life is the biggest trade-off: heavy users should bring a power bank. For the typical on-demand user taking 3-5 short sessions per day, a single charge is sufficient.

Besides dry herbs, the Firefly 2+ handles concentrates via a stainless steel pad that sits inside the chamber. At higher temperatures (230-260 °C), results are solid, though dedicated concentrate devices like the Dr. Dabber Switch 2 naturally perform better.

A water pipe adapter (WPA) is available as an accessory and fits standard 14 mm joints. Water filtration cools the vapor further, which is particularly pleasant at higher temperatures. Other accessories include replacement lids, a charging dock, and cleaning kits. Cleaning itself is straightforward: remove the lid, wipe the glass chamber with an isopropanol-soaked cotton swab, let dry. A deeper clean every 10-15 sessions is recommended.
