Induction Heating: How It Works
Most e-rigs use conduction or convection. The Switch takes a different route: induction. A high-frequency electromagnetic field penetrates the crucible and generates heat inside the material itself — no physical contact with a heating element.
The principle mirrors an induction stovetop: energy develops in the material, not in a coil that has to warm up first. That is why the Switch reaches operating temperature in around 5 seconds. Conduction-based e-rigs typically need three to five times as long.
A second benefit is even heat distribution. The entire crucible heats at once instead of just the base. Hot spots that might combust concentrate are unlikely. This preserves the terpene profile and improves extraction.
Dr. Dabber was among the pioneers of induction heating for concentrates. When the Switch launched, it was one of the first devices globally to bring this technology to the consumer market.
25 Heat Settings & Bluetooth App
The Switch offers 25 adjustable heat levels between 149 and 427 °C. Lower levels from 149 °C suit flavor-focused sessions with thin concentrates. Higher levels up to 427 °C produce dense vapor and fast extraction.

Self-Cleaning Mode
Concentrates leave resin residue in the crucible. Most e-rigs need manual wiping or soaking after every session. The Switch simplifies that with a built-in self-cleaning mode.
In cleaning mode, the device runs a short high-temperature cycle that burns off remaining residue. A quick wipe with a cotton swab is then enough to get the crucible clean. This saves time and reduces the amount of isopropanol used in daily upkeep.
For deeper cleaning — when the crucible or glass is noticeably restricted — the standard approach still applies:
- Soak the crucible in isopropanol (90 %+) for 10 to 15 minutes
- Soak the glass attachment too
- Rinse with warm water and dry thoroughly
Self-cleaning mode handles daily maintenance. It is not a substitute for a full deep clean. Users who wipe after every session and run the mode regularly can go much longer between ISO treatments.
Desktop Use: Mains Power Only
The Switch runs on mains power only (100–240 V, universal). There is no battery. This is a deliberate design choice: the induction coil draws more energy than a standard heating coil. A battery large enough to sustain extended sessions would add substantial weight and size.
Instead, Dr. Dabber opted for consistent performance without battery degradation. Heat-up time stays at around 5 seconds whether it is the first or the fiftieth session of the evening. That matters for longer gatherings.
At 907 grams, the Switch is the heavier model in Dr. Dabber's lineup. That weight keeps it planted on the table. Pulling on the glass attachment will not tip it. As a home device for a desk or coffee table, this is exactly right. It is not built to travel.
