V1 and v2.0 — what is known and what is not

Arizer now lists the Solo III as “v 2.0". The manufacturer has not disclosed what changed between the first version and the revision: there is no comparison, no updated specification list and no indication that any components were replaced. We therefore list the V1 as a separate data record so that offers for the older version are not mixed with those for the current one — and we do not attribute specifications to it that have only been confirmed for the v2.0.

What is the difference between the Solo 3 V1 and the v2.0? +

Arizer has not documented a single difference between the Solo 3 V1 and v2.0: there is neither a comparison nor an updated specification list. The only confirmed fact is that the manufacturer now lists the model as “v 2.0". We therefore do not attribute specifications to the V1 that have only been documented for the v2.0.

Is the V1 still worth buying? +

The V1 is worthwhile if the price difference compared with the v2.0 is large enough. Because the differences between the versions have not been documented, the added value of the newer version cannot be quantified — if the price difference is small, there is little reason to choose the older version; if it is large, there is little reason not to, provided the battery condition and accessories are satisfactory.

Does the Solo 3 use convection? +

Yes, the Solo 3 works predominantly through convection. Arizer describes the range as predominantly convection-based, with a smaller conduction component. Most of the heat is therefore transferred by the air flowing through it.

What is the difference between Session and On Demand? +

The difference between Session and On Demand lies in the heating duration: in Session mode, the device maintains the temperature for a set period, while in On-Demand mode it heats only for an individual draw. On Demand conserves material and battery power when there are longer pauses between draws.

Can I use v2.0 accessories with the V1? +

Yes, the v2.0 glass aroma tubes can generally also be used with the V1 because they belong to the entire Solo range. As Arizer has not documented the differences between the versions, when buying replacement parts it is advisable to check the dimensions of the individual part rather than the model designation.

How is the Solo 3 cleaned? +

The Solo 3 is cleaned in two steps: the glass tube can be soaked in isopropyl alcohol, while residue is removed from the chamber with a brush. The electronics and battery must remain dry — liquid should only come into contact with the removable glass parts.

Where can I still buy the Solo 3 V1? +

The Solo 3 V1 is now mainly available from the remaining stock of individual retailers. You can see which shops currently stock this version and at what price in the price table on this page.
