The DynaVap Captive Cap is a cap for all VapCap models. The Captive version stays locked on the tip and won't fall off. Controls click temperature and protects the tip. A worthwhile addition for everyday use.

Click Mechanism

The Captive Cap contains a bimetallic disc that audibly clicks at vaporization temperature. The Captive version stays locked on the tip and won't fall off. Click point is around 200°C and varies slightly between caps.

Compatibility

Fits all DynaVap tips (standard 10mm) and most VapCap-compatible devices from other makers (Simrell, Dreamwood, etc.). Just push on — holds via friction and magnetism on some models.

Care

Do NOT soak the cap in isopropanol — this can shift the click point. Only wipe dry or rinse with warm water. Heat discoloration is normal and doesn't affect function.

Captive vs. Regular Cap

The Captive Cap locks into the tip and won't fall off — practical when heating upside down. The click is slightly quieter than the old cap. Standard for IH users. When torch-heating, rotate evenly.

Care and Lifespan

Soak the cap in isopropanol every 2-4 weeks. Dents from heating are normal. Replace when the click becomes unreliable — roughly after 6-12 months of daily use.
