According to QaromaShop, the Baroma XL is almost identical to the Taroma XL except for the material, but its solid brass construction makes it significantly heavier. Its gemstone chamber holds just over 500 ruby beads, each measuring 3 mm. Compared with a standard Baroma heater head, the manufacturer states that it offers more than three times the surface area and thermal mass, allowing it to hit even harder with the same or a larger load.
The chamber controls the airflow and retains heat through its additional mass. It should not be operated empty or overfilled. QaromaShop specifically lists individual and group sessions as well as special occasions as intended uses.
Heating is provided by a 30-mm heating coil with 5 clockwise wraps. A raised step in the housing stabilizes the coil and provides better contact, so only coils of this exact design will fit. It connects to the PID controller via a five-pin XLR plug; the manufacturer excludes modified or incompatible coils.
The kit includes a brass adapter bowl with an 18-mm ground joint, while a glass bowl with or without dimples is available as an option. QaromaShop does not provide a recommended temperature for the Baroma XL.
QaromaShop explicitly advises supporting the weight of the Baroma XL with basket screens or laying it on its side on the porcelain stand. Otherwise, the high pressure on the ground joint may eventually break the inner cup. The stand itself becomes hot during extended operation, but according to the manufacturer, it can still be touched briefly.
The kit includes the brass housing, the brass 18-mm adapter bowl, a fitted 30-mm coil, the PID controller with a US or EU plug, a coil handle made of stabilized walnut wood, a porcelain stand, four bags of 3-mm ruby beads, 25.4 mm stainless steel screens, and a stainless steel scoop and stirring tool. Glass parts are not included, and the glass bowl is only available as an option; according to the manufacturer, the ground joints follow standard laboratory glassware sizes.
