If you like dabbing at exact temperatures, the full-size Q7 is the better match. If you want a small device for travel and three levels are enough, the Mini is the handier option.
Level 1 delivers 3.2 V, level 2 3.6 V and level 3 4.0 V. Lookah translates this into a range of about 350 to 450 °F. According to the manufacturer, the low level preserves terpenes and brings out flavor, while the high level suits thicker concentrates and produces more vapor.
The heater is a Type A 710 quartz dish coil: the concentrate sits in a quartz dish, which Lookah says gives a clean taste. The Mini accepts all four of the brand's 710 quartz dish coil types, so trying a different dish shape only means swapping the coil.
The display shows the current temperature, the preheat countdown and the battery level. A magnetic flip-top lid makes loading easy, and the carb hole in the lid lets you adjust the airflow.
So the Mini only heats while the button is held. That is a different approach from the full-size Q7, which holds the set temperature for one minute once it has heated up.
According to Lookah, the 950 mAh battery lasts for about 80 to 100 uses per charge. It charges via USB-C with a 5 V input, and a full charge takes about 1.5 hours. At 85 × 55 × 28 mm, the Mini fits in a trouser pocket.
After each session, wipe the quartz dish with a cotton swab dipped in isopropyl alcohol. For a deep clean, unscrew the coil counterclockwise, remove the downstem clockwise and clean the airway with a brush and isopropyl alcohol. Soak the coil in isopropyl alcohol for 30 minutes and rinse it with warm water. Wipe the lid and body with a damp cloth and only reassemble everything once it is completely dry.
