Three voltage settings instead of degree-based control
A double-click switches the power between 3.2, 3.6 and 4.0 volts. The display and LED indicate the three settings but do not show a temperature in degrees Celsius. After switching on, a countdown runs from nine to zero; the ten-second preheating function can also warm thicker concentrates or a cold coil. The button is then held for up to 30 seconds to vaporize.
Quartz cup with 710 thread
Two replaceable Type-C quartz cups are included. The concentrate is placed in the center of the base of the cold cup before the magnetic lid is closed. The integrated carb on the lid controls additional airflow. Lookah also lists other 710 coil types as compatible; they alter the configuration and draw characteristics but do not turn the Dragon Egg into a dry herb vaporizer.
Acrylic water filter and glass mouthpiece
The lower chamber and ribbed percolator are made from food-grade acrylic rather than borosilicate glass. This reduces the risk of breakage while traveling, but the material may scratch more easily. A small amount of water cools the vapor before it flows through the curved toughened-glass mouthpiece. The Dragon Egg therefore has integrated water filtration; it is not designed to connect to an external bong, and no separate WPA is provided.
950 mAh, USB-C and material-appropriate cleaning
According to Lookah, the built-in 950-mAh battery charges via USB-C in approximately 90 minutes. After each use, residue should be removed from the still-lukewarm quartz cup with a cotton bud. The quartz cup and glass mouthpiece may be cleaned separately with isopropyl alcohol. The acrylic chamber and percolator, however, should only be rinsed with warm soapy water because alcohol can cloud or damage the material.
