Focus V — California Pioneers of the Smart Dab E-Rig (CARTA Line) Key Takeaways Brand: Focus V — a California (USA) brand founded by Sam Jurist; with the original CARTA (2019) a co-founder of the app-controlled electric dab rig…
Focus V →The Focus V CARTA is a portable E-Rig from Focus V, designed primarily for concentrates. The device uses conduction heating and reaches up to 370 °C. The built-in 2,000 mAh battery is charged via USB. Temperature and session settings can be controlled via a Bluetooth app.
The CARTA is WPA-compatible and comes with a glass bubbler that filters the vapour through water. As a smart E-Rig, it connects to a smartphone app for precise temperature control. Prices from 4 shops in the price comparison. All Focus V products on the brand page.

Conduction heating up to 370 °C
The CARTA uses conduction heating: a heating element warms the atomiser through direct contact, and the concentrate on the surface is vaporised. The maximum temperature is 370 °C -- high enough for all common concentrates such as waxes, shatter and live resin.
Heat-up time is short: the CARTA reaches operating temperature within a few seconds. At lower temperatures (200-250 °C), flavour takes priority, while at higher levels (300-370 °C), vapour density dominates.
For the temperature range, the Bluetooth app offers precise control. Without the app, preset levels are available on the device.
Research context: A study in the Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences (Hazekamp et al., 2006) showed that vaporisation at controlled temperatures releases over 95 % of the desired active compounds, while combustion by-products are largely avoided. Source: PubMed 16637053
Bluetooth app and smart controls
The CARTA connects via Bluetooth to the Focus V app (Android and iOS). In the app, temperature and session duration can be adjusted to the exact degree. The app also stores individual presets and LED colour profiles.
For users who do not want to use an app, the basic functions are also accessible directly on the device. Four preset temperature levels cover the most common use cases. The app expands the feature set, but it is not required.
Compared with E-Rigs without an app, the CARTA therefore offers greater flexibility -- especially when experimenting with different concentrates and temperatures.
Glass bubbler and WPA
The CARTA comes with a glass bubbler made of borosilicate. The vapour is filtered and cooled through water, which noticeably improves comfort at high temperatures.
The CARTA is WPA-compatible: using an adapter, the device can be connected to an external water pipe. This is particularly interesting for users who prefer larger glass pieces or already own a collection.
The bubbler can also be used dry without water. At lower temperatures, this is an acceptable option; at higher temperatures, water filtration is recommended for a smoother draw.
Who is the Focus V CARTA for?
The CARTA is aimed at concentrate users looking for a portable E-Rig with app control and water filtration. The Bluetooth app enables precise temperature control, the glass bubbler cools the vapour, and WPA compatibility provides additional flexibility.
The 2,000 mAh battery lasts for several sessions. Unlike its successor, the Carta 2, the original CARTA battery is not replaceable.
In the price comparison across 4 shops, you can find current offers. All Focus V products are on the brand page.
App control via Bluetooth
The Focus V App connects to the CARTA via Bluetooth. It allows you to set temperatures to the exact degree, adjust session times and install firmware updates. The app also shows battery status and draw statistics.
Without the app, the CARTA works via four preset levels. The app is therefore optional, but it significantly expands the possibilities.
