The Camouflet Ceramo XL uses ceramic balls for heat retention - an approach that differs from the ruby or quartz balls used by other makers. Ceramic holds heat longer and releases it more evenly than a pure titanium tip. The device belongs to the Convector line by Camouflet, is handmade in Canada, and runs on butane. The body is hardwood, the vapour path is glass with glass components throughout. A 14 mm WPA adapter is built in, connecting the Ceramo XL directly to water pieces. Thanks to the larger chamber and ceramic balls, it works both as a portable vaporizer and as a stand-in for a desktop unit at home. Our price comparison shows current deals for the Ceramo XL.

Ceramic Ball Convection
Inside the heating area of the Ceramo XL sit ceramic balls that are heated by the butane lighter. The balls store warmth and release it evenly across multiple draws. Temperature stays more stable than with a setup that relies on a titanium tip alone. Extraction becomes more thorough because heat does not drop off after the first draw. Compared to ruby balls, ceramic is lighter and more affordable while offering similar heat retention properties.
Desktop and Portable Hybrid
The larger XL chamber and the sustained warmth of the ceramic balls make the Ceramo XL a device that blurs the line between categories. On a water piece at home, it delivers results that remind of desktop vaporizers. On the go, it works just the same - with a butane lighter as the only energy source, no outlet needed. The wood body insulates well and stays cool in hand even after several consecutive draws.
Cleaning and Maintenance
The glass components can be removed and soaked in isopropanol. The ceramic balls themselves need very little care - occasional soaking in cleaning alcohol is enough. Since the vapour path contains no electronics, there is little that can break. The balls last indefinitely under normal use. Individual glass parts can be ordered as replacements from Camouflet if needed.
