Wolkenkraft ÄRiS Ultra Review: Convection with Titanium Chamber from €159

The ÄRiS Ultra sits right in the middle of Wolkenkraft’s lineup. Positioned between the entry-level ÄRiS (from €128) and the flagship LIVE (from €378), it plays the all-rounder card with a titanium chamber that was previously exclusive to the LIVE. A pure convection vaporizer with a titanium chamber under €200 — that’s a rare find.

We put the ÄRiS Ultra through its paces over several weeks of daily use. Heat-up time, vapor quality, battery life, cleaning — everything got tested. Whether it’s worth the asking price and who it’s actually built for, we break down below.

What’s in the Box and First Impressions

Wolkenkraft packs a decent amount of extras in with the device. Besides the unit itself, you get:

• Glass mouthpiece with cooling unit
• Dosing capsule magazine with two capsules
• Branded cleaning brush and tweezers
• Spare screen for the cooling unit
• Alcohol cleaning wipes
• USB-C charging cable
• Mouthpiece cover for on the go
• Cleaning tool (magnetically stored inside the device)

The built-in tool is a nice touch: it sits magnetically in the base of the device and pulls out whenever you need it. Handy for stirring the chamber or taking apart the airway during cleaning. No loose accessories to misplace.

The soft-touch coating feels premium right out of the box. The ÄRiS Ultra sits securely in your hand and is compact enough to nearly disappear in your palm. Two colors are available: Night Blue and Gun Metal — both with the same soft-touch finish.

Titanium Chamber: The Heart of the Device

The titanium chamber is borrowed from the Wolkenkraft LIVE, which starts at €378. With the ÄRiS Ultra, you get the same technology for less than half the price.

What does titanium actually bring to the table? More even heat distribution and better efficiency. During testing, the ABV (Already Been Vaped) was consistently uniform brown — no dark spots, no untouched material around the edges. The titanium chamber delivers heat more evenly than ceramic or stainless steel alternatives.

The chamber holds around 0.06 g. That’s on the small side — if you prefer larger loads per session, you’ll need to reload. However, the included dosing capsules offset this nicely: pre-fill two capsules, slot them into the magazine, and you’ve got enough for four sessions on the go. The capsule magazine has a seal, so there’s no smell leaking out.

The capsules have a screw thread to close them — another feature borrowed from the LIVE. No shifting around, no rattling. Loading is foolproof: there’s no wrong way to insert them.

Vapor Quality and Efficiency

The ÄRiS Ultra is a pure convection vaporizer. The air gets heated, not the material directly. In practice, that means the first draw produces little visible vapor. The herbs need to heat through first. By the second or third draw, the vapor density picks up noticeably.

One thing that stands out: the vapor arrives surprisingly cool. Despite lacking a separate cooling module (like the Mighty+ or Venty), the temperature in the mouth is comfortable. The glass tube in the cooling unit seems to do the job. Compared to the Arizer Solo 3, which also uses a glass mouthpiece, we found the ÄRiS Ultra’s vapor noticeably cooler.

Vapor production at 210 °C is solid for a pure convection vaporizer in this price range. It won’t match a VENTY or Tinymight 2 — but those cost nearly twice as much. Where the ÄRiS Ultra truly shines is flavor: convection delivers cleaner taste than hybrid or conduction devices because the material never scorches against hot chamber walls.

Airflow is decent. Comparable to the Wolkenkraft LIVE, better than the Solo 3, but not quite as open as the VENTY. If you pull out the airway tool from the bottom, you get slightly more draw resistance — though the difference is minimal.

Controls: Three Buttons, Nothing More Needed

The front panel has three buttons: one large main button and two smaller ones. The controls are straightforward:

• Power on: Press the main button 5 times — the device starts heating immediately
• Temperature: Adjust in 1 °C increments with the small buttons (100–220 °C)
• Session duration: Hold the main button, then adjust in 10-second steps with the small buttons
• Power off: Press the main button 5 times or wait for the session to end

The default session length is 4 minutes. During testing, we bumped it up to 6 minutes — that’s enough to fully extract everything from the chamber. Stepless temperature control (single-degree precision, not 10-degree jumps) isn’t a given in this price range.

The display on top is easy to read, at least indoors. It shows temperature, session time, and battery level. We didn’t test it extensively in direct sunlight.

Haptic vibration lets you know when the target temperature is reached. Useful when the device is tucked in your pocket.

Battery and Charging

The 2,600 mAh battery lasted for 8 sessions in our tests. That’s respectable for a convection vaporizer of this size. For reference: the standard ÄRiS only has 2,300 mAh — yet the Ultra squeezes out more sessions thanks to the more efficient titanium chamber.

The 80-minute charge time (USB-C, 10 W) won’t break any records. That works out to about 10 minutes of charging per session — acceptable, but not true fast charging. The standard ÄRiS charges at just 7.5 W, so the Ultra is at least 33% faster. Passthrough charging is supported: you can vape while the device is plugged in.

What’s missing: a replaceable battery. That’s the norm for devices under €200, so it would have been a welcome addition. For portable use, the dosing capsules partially make up for it — you save time reloading, which means you get more out of each charge.

Heat-up Time in Detail

Wolkenkraft claims 30 seconds. Our measurements:

• 180 °C: 26 seconds
• 200 °C: ~30 seconds
• 210 °C: 33 seconds

For a session-style convection vaporizer, that’s quick. The Solo 3 takes about 25 seconds, the VENTY around 20 — but those are pricier devices. On-demand vaporizers like the Tinymight 2 (3 seconds) are in a different league entirely, though they also start at €271 and up.

Cleaning: Where the ÄRiS Ultra Really Stands Out

Here’s where it gets interesting: cleaning is the ÄRiS Ultra’s single biggest advantage over the competition. Very few portable vaporizers can be taken apart this completely and cleaned this quickly.

What needs cleaning — and how:

1. Glass tube: Pull it out, soak in isopropanol, rinse, done
2. Cooling unit screen: Remove, soak in isopropanol, rinse
3. Airway: Use the built-in tool to open the channel from the bottom (push past a small resistance, then the spiral with screen pops out). Fully disassemblable and washable
4. Chamber: Brush out while still warm — prevents residue from building up

This is remarkable. With many vaporizers (Mighty+, VENTY), you can’t reach the airway at all. The ÄRiS Ultra lets you clean the device front to back. No hidden grime, no particles accumulating where you can’t see them.

Pro tip: pick up a second mouthpiece. That way you can keep vaping while the first one dries. Makes the whole cleaning routine completely hassle-free.

Avoid soaking the cooling unit’s rubber ring in isopropanol for too long — a quick wipe with a damp brush is enough. Rinse everything with clean water afterward to make sure no alcohol residue remains.

The ÄRiS Ultra is the direct successor to the ÄRiS. Verdict: Is the Wolkenkraft ÄRiS Ultra Worth It?

The ÄRiS Ultra gets a lot right. The titanium chamber delivers even, flavorful vapor. Cleaning is the easiest we’ve experienced on any portable vaporizer — fully disassemblable, everything accessible, no hidden grime. Dosing capsules with a storage magazine come included, the soft-touch finish feels good in the hand, and the device is compact enough for a jeans pocket.

The weak points: the 0.06 g chamber is small. The 80-minute charge time isn’t fast charging. No replaceable battery, no on-demand mode. And if maximum vapor clouds are your priority, hybrid vaporizers will serve you better.

But as a complete package under €200? The ÄRiS Ultra offers a titanium chamber that’s usually reserved for much pricier devices, best-in-class cleaning, and solid vapor quality. Starting at €159 across 7 shops, it’s currently one of the most compelling convection vaporizers in its price bracket.
