The IQ range: why the numbers are confusing
The names suggest a sequence that is not actually correct. The IQC is not the successor to the IQ2, but the pared-down version of the second generation: the same temperature range and controls, but 3000 rather than 3500 mAh and without the LED grid on the front.
The IQ3 is the only true generational leap. At 4000 mAh, it has the largest battery in the range, can be controlled via an app and is the newest model in the line-up — accordingly, it is priced above the IQ2 and IQC.
The IQ Core stands apart from the rest: at – g, it is the lightest device in the range, but does without app control and dosing capsules. It is the right choice for anyone who wants the IQ controls without the accessory ecosystem.
Which model suits whom?
For daily use at home
The IQ3 makes the most of its battery life where it can be recharged without causing inconvenience. The 4000 mAh lasts several days for most users. It also comes with the longest warranty in the range.
For use on the go
The MIQRO-C and IQ Core are the travel devices. The MIQRO-C weighs 87 g and fits in a trouser pocket, but at 39 seconds it takes noticeably longer to heat up than the larger models. The smaller battery is the price paid for its compact format.
For beginners
The IQC offers the basic DaVinci features at the lowest entry price in the IQ range: replaceable battery, zirconium air path and a ten-year warranty. Anyone who wants to find out whether the brand suits them has the least to lose here.
ARTIQ and EQ: a different category
Two devices bear the DaVinci name but do not belong in this comparison. The ARTIQ is a 510 battery for cartridges — it does not vaporise herbs, heats up in 3 seconds and has a built-in battery. With 6000 mAh and a significantly higher maximum temperature, the EQ is aimed at extracts. Anyone looking for a dry-herb vaporiser will find one in the IQ or MIQRO range.
What DaVinci devices have in common
Three things run through almost the entire range. First, the replaceable battery — the cell can be replaced in all IQ and MIQRO models, separating the device’s service life from battery ageing. Second, the zirconium air path, which contains no plastic in the vapor path. Third, the warranty: ten years for the IQ range, five for the MIQRO-C and IQ Core.
The shared weak point is the heating technology. All models use conduction, meaning direct contact between the herb chamber and the material. This heats up quickly, but requires even filling and stirring between draws — anyone accustomed to convection will need to adjust.
Older models
The MIQRO (predecessor to the MIQRO-C, without USB-C) and the original IQ can still be found in remaining stock. Both are technically sound, but the charging port and more limited availability of spare parts count against buying one new at full price.
