Review & Long-Term Test

Review & Long-Term Test is a core practical topic for the Volcano Classic. Build a stable baseline with fixed temperature and airflow, adjust one variable per session, and keep short notes to find a reproducible setup.

Check draw rhythm, chamber fill, and cleaning intervals in a regular routine. Most quality gains come from consistency, not from extreme settings.

  • Start with one repeatable profile.
  • Change only one parameter at a time.
  • Track taste, vapor density, and session duration.
  • Clean cooling path, screens, and seals regularly.

What is the difference between Volcano Classic and Hybrid? +

The Classic is purely electromechanical with an analog dial and pure convection. The Hybrid has a digital touch display, Bluetooth connectivity to the Storz & Bickel app, a hybrid heating system combining convection and conduction, a tube kit, and an automatic shut-off. The Classic takes about 5 minutes to heat up, the Hybrid only 40 seconds. The Classic costs 398 euros, the Hybrid 598 euros.

How long does a Volcano Classic last? +

The Volcano Classic is known for its longevity. Since it has no digital electronics, there are few components that can age or fail. Many users report over 10 years of operation without issues. Storz & Bickel offers a 2-year warranty, extendable to 3 years with registration. Wear parts like balloons and screens need to be replaced regularly.

Can you use dosing capsules with the Volcano Classic? +

Yes. The Volcano Classic is compatible with Storz & Bickel dosing capsules. These small aluminum capsules are placed inside the filling chamber and allow for cleaner operation and faster material changes. The capsules and a filling chamber adapter for smaller amounts are available separately.

Does the Volcano Classic need an app? +

No. The Volcano Classic has neither Bluetooth nor app connectivity. All operation is done through the analog temperature dial and the pump rocker switch on the device. Those who want app control and a digital temperature display should opt for the Volcano Hybrid.

Which balloons fit the Volcano Classic? +

The Volcano Classic uses the EASY VALVE system. The EASY VALVE balloons with mouthpiece come pre-assembled and can be used right away. The package includes 4 balloons with mouthpiece and 1 balloon with adapter. Replacement balloons are available directly from Storz & Bickel. They recommend replacing balloons and mouthpieces every two weeks for hygienic reasons.

What colors does the Volcano Classic come in? +

The Volcano Classic comes in four variants: Onyx (black), Silver, 25 Years Edition (anniversary model for the 25th anniversary), and Evergreen (green). All versions are technically identical – the differences are limited to the housing color.
