Pros
- Flameless 445 nm laser ignition, no butane or lighter
- Integrated borosilicate glass water filtration cools the smoke
- High-quality build from aircraft-grade aluminium
- 1400 mAh battery (~300 sessions), USB-C, pass-through use
- Ignition in about 9 seconds at the push of a button
Cons
- Laser combustion — not true vaporization, it produces smoke
- High price (around 500 USD)
- Desktop-only, not portable like the Saber
- Short silicone hose, awkward for passing around
- Counter-intuitive heat indicator (red = cool, blue = hot)
- Clear the airflow ports between draws — a little fiddly

About this vaporizer
The Hitoki Trident is the desktop water pipe of the Hitoki laser range and the original model behind the portable Saber. Instead of a butane flame or heating coil, a 445 nm laser ignites the herb in the ceramic chamber — a double-tap triggers a roughly 9-second pulse, and by the time you go to inhale the chamber is already full of smoke. The smoke is drawn through integrated borosilicate glass water filtration and a silicone hose, which cools it noticeably. Three colour-coded heat settings control the intensity, though the display runs counter to the usual convention: red is the lowest and blue the highest level. The housing is made from aircraft-grade aluminium, the 1400 mAh battery lasts around 300 sessions and charges via USB-C in about 90 minutes (pass-through use possible). At an MSRP of around 500 US dollars, the Trident is a premium device for anyone after the water-cooled bong experience — without a lighter, without butane, with laser ignition in seconds.

It combusts it. The 445-nm-Laser replaces the flame, not combustion — smoke is produced, not vapour. The benefit is that no butane burns along with it and ignition happens with pinpoint accuracy at the press of a button.
The 1400-mAh-Akku lasts for around 300 uses per charge. Charging is via USB-C in about 90 minutes, and you can continue using the Trident while it is charging (Pass-through).
They indicate the three heat settings. Unlike the usual arrangement, red stands for the lowest setting and blue for the highest — the display is deliberately designed contrary to the usual “red equals hot” convention.
The Saber is portable and fits onto third-party bongs via an adapter. The Trident is a standalone desktop water pipe with integrated Borosilikatglas water filtration, larger 1400-mAh-Akku and Silikonschlauch — built for a fixed place on the table.
Clear the air channels of the heating chamber between draws, then wipe out the lower chamber and tap out the ash. Occasionally wipe with isopropyl alcohol and regularly change the water in the glass filter.
The recommended retail price is around 500 US dollars (about 438 Euro). This places it in the price range of high-quality desktop devices such as the Volcano Classic.
