Key Takeaways
- Value for money: The CFX offers hybrid heating and a large display from 109 € – significantly cheaper than comparable devices from Storz & Bickel.
- Fast start: 20 seconds heat-up time and 1-degree temperature steps from 60-230 °C enable precise control.
- Large chamber: The chamber holds up to 0.5 g – ideal for group sessions or longer solo sessions.
- Battery: 5000 mAh lasts for 6-8 full sessions. USB-C charging in around 2-3 hours.
- Limitation: At 206 g, the CFX is not one of the most compact portables – more suited to home use or a rucksack.

The King of Value for Money
The Boundless CFX flies under the radar. While everyone talks about Mighty+, Venty and PAX, the CFX delivers a combination that no other portable in its price class offers: 20 seconds heat-up time, 5000 mAh battery and hybrid heating up to 221°C. From 109 € — cheaper than the Crafty+ and better in some areas.
Design and Operation
The CFX will not win any beauty contests. The plastic housing feels functional rather than elegant. 206 grams feel heavy in the hand. But: OLED display, precise temperature control, large oven and a layout that makes sense after the first session.
Three buttons, clear display, no forced app. You set the temperature and start vaping. The large oven holds more material than Mighty+, Crafty+ or PAX. Group-friendly.
Heating and Vapor
Hybrid heating: conduction plus convection. 20 seconds heat-up time — on a par with the Venty, three times faster than the Mighty+. The vapor quality is dense and even. Not quite at Mighty+ level in flavour nuance, but outstanding for the price.
The temperature ranges from 38 to 221°C with exact degree-by-degree control. 11 degrees more than S&B devices. If you like high temperatures for maximum extraction, you have more room to work with here.
Battery: The Killer Advantage
5000 mAh. That is more than Mighty+ (3300), Venty (3000) and Crafty+ (3200) individually. The CFX lasts 90-120 minutes, some users report up to 8-10 sessions. USB-C charging, passthrough works. The battery is not replaceable, however.
For travel, festivals or long evenings, the CFX is the battery bank among vaporizers. No other portable vaporizer in this price class comes even close to this runtime.
Dosing Capsules and Accessories
The CFX is compatible with Boundless’s own dosing capsules. The capsule system works similarly to S&B: pre-pack, insert, stay clean. WPA adapters for water filtration are available. The accessories ecosystem is smaller than with S&B, but the basics are covered.
Who Is the CFX For?
For price-conscious buyers who do not want to compromise on battery life and heat-up time. For group sessions thanks to the large oven. For anyone looking for a Mighty+ competitor at a fraction of the price.
NOT for: design-conscious users (the CFX is functional, not elegant), users looking for the purest flavour (Arizer glass stems win), pocket carriers (too large for tight trouser pockets).

Using the CFX correctly: Step by step
The CFX is ready to use within 2 minutes. Here are the most important steps for good results:
1. Fill the chamber: Open the lid and fill the chamber loosely to lightly firmly. Do not pack it tight – the air must be able to flow through. For solo sessions, a half fill with the included chamber reducer is enough. Dosing capsules also fit and keep the chamber clean.
2. Choose the temperature: The CFX offers 1-degree steps from 60 to 230 °C. For flavour, start at 170-180 °C. For denser clouds, increase to 200-210 °C. The heat-up time is 20 seconds – the display shows the current and target temperature at the same time.
3. Draw technique: Draw slowly and evenly, not hastily. The CFX uses hybrid heating (conduction + convection), i.e. both direct wall contact and the hot air flowing through produce vapor. A slow draw gives convection more time to work and delivers better flavour.
4. End of session: After 5-10 minutes, the material is evenly brown and the flavour fades. Switch off, let it cool down, empty the chamber. The used material (AVB) can be kept.
Tip: If you heat the CFX empty to 230 °C once before the first fill, you remove possible production residues.
Cleaning and Care
Regular cleaning keeps the vapor fresh and extends the service life of the CFX.
After every session: Empty the chamber with the supplied brush and give it a quick brush while the device is still slightly warm. Residue comes loose much more easily when warm than when cold.
Weekly (or every 10-15 sessions): Remove the mouthpiece and take out the screens. Soak everything in isopropyl alcohol (90%+) for 15-20 minutes. Then rinse with warm water and allow it to dry completely before reinserting it. Run an ISO-soaked pipe cleaner through the vapor path in the device itself.
Dosing capsules recommended: If you use stainless steel dosing capsules, the chamber stays much cleaner. Instead of weekly deep cleaning, every 3-4 weeks is enough. The capsules themselves can easily be cleaned in an ISO bath.
Important: Do not let water run into the device. Only soak the removable parts (mouthpiece, screens, capsules) in liquid.
CFX vs Mighty+ vs Crafty+ vs XMAX V4 Pro
How does the CFX stack up against the most popular portables in the same category? The table shows the hard facts:
| Feature | Boundless CFX | Mighty+ | Crafty+ | XMAX V4 Pro |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Current price | 109 € | 269 € | 179 € | 88 € |
| Heating principle | Hybrid | Hybrid | Hybrid | Convection |
| Heat-up time | 20 sec. | 60 sec. | 60 sec. | 10 sec. |
| Battery | 5000 mAh | 6600 mAh | 3200 mAh | 2550 mAh |
| Weight | 206 g | 242 g | 135 g | – g |
| Warranty | 2 | 2 | 2 | – |
The CFX is the cheapest option in terms of price and has the largest chamber volume. Mighty+ and Crafty+ come from Storz & Bickel and are considered the reference for vapor quality – but they also cost considerably more. The V4 Pro from XMAX offers pure convection and the fastest heat-up time in the group, but has the smallest battery in return.
In short: If you are looking for the best value for money and need a large chamber, go for the CFX. If you want the optimum in vapor and build quality and have more budget, choose the Mighty+. The Crafty+ is the compact Storz-&-Bickel alternative, and the V4 Pro the cheapest convection option with the fastest start.
