Yocan Regen

According to Yocan, the Regen offers three power levels. They alter the coil's electrical power but do not display an exact vaporization temperature in degrees Celsius. A lower power setting is a sensible starting point when flavour and a controlled draw are more important; a higher setting can increase vapour production but heats the material and coil more intensely. The result also depends on whether the QDC or QTC heating element is fitted and on the amount loaded.

1. Place a small portion in the cooled coil.
2. Begin with the lowest setting and activate it briefly.
3. Increase the setting gradually only if vapour production is too low.
4. Allow short cooling pauses between several draws.

This makes it easier to find a reproducible suitable setting than starting immediately at the highest power. When changing the coil, adjustment should begin again at the lowest setting: three quartz rods will not necessarily respond in the same way as two at the same setting. The levels are therefore more of a broad power scale than precise temperature control.

The slim housing contains a built-in battery with 1,100 mAh. This capacity is respectable for a concentrate pen, but it does not allow a reliable number of draws to be stated: the coil, power level, activation duration, ambient temperature and battery age all affect runtime. The battery cannot be exchanged for a charged cell. When it is empty, the entire device must be connected to the charging cable.

For everyday use, this means checking the charge level before longer journeys and packing the correct cable for the port. While charging, the Regen should be placed on a dry, non-flammable surface; damaged cables or unusually intense heating are reasons to stop the process. The 1,100-mAh specification describes only the nominal capacity, not charging speed or battery health. Anyone expecting an easily replaceable energy source will not find one here. Those who prefer a self-contained pen system without separate battery cells receive a straightforward solution, but must account for long-term wear of the internal battery.

Yocan connects the atomiser tube and device base magnetically. This provides faster access to the coil because no thread needs to be fully unscrewed and screwed back together at this point. Before transport, however, you should still check that all parts are seated securely: a magnetic closure prevents neither residue in the chamber nor unintended strain inside a full bag. Sticky contact surfaces are best cleaned only after they have cooled.

A small silicone container for concentrate is integrated into the base. It eliminates the need for a separate container when travelling, but should be kept closed, clean and filled only with compatible material. An eyelet at the top can accommodate a carrying strap. Yocan also offers the Regen in six colours: black, stainless steel, grey, apple green, light red and light blue. These details make the pen travel-friendly, but they do not replace a protective case. The fitted coil and mouthpiece in particular remain wear or cleaning parts. The accessories therefore improve organisation and access, but do not relieve the user of maintaining the vapour path.

The Regen is particularly suitable for users who want to try two quartz heating elements and prefer a larger internal battery. Its 1,100-mAh battery, QDC and QTC coils and integrated silicone container form a classic pen package specialised for concentrates. The three power levels are deliberately simple; there is no display or temperature selection accurate to individual degrees.

The Yocan ZEN has different priorities. According to the manufacturer, it uses a C4-DE ceramic coil, a 650-mAh battery, USB-C and three voltages of 2.8, 3.2 and 3.6 volts. This makes it the more suitable alternative when a ceramic heating element, clearly specified voltage values or USB-C are more important. The Regen, by contrast, offers a higher nominal battery capacity and two included quartz coils. Both devices are intended for concentrates, not dry herbs. The decision should therefore not depend on price alone: coil material, charging port and desired battery reserve determine the practical difference more clearly than the similar pen shape.
