The CCELL Sandwave is a compact 510-thread battery device for oil and concentrate cartridges - not a dry herb vaporiser, but a dedicated battery for pre-filled carts. What sets it apart: the Sandwave operates without a button. When you draw on the cartridge, the device activates automatically (draw activation). The voltage can be adjusted to three levels via a sliding switch: 2.8 V, 3.2 V and 3.6 V. The built-in battery has a capacity of 400 mAh and charges via USB-C. The magnetic drop-in 510 connection allows quick cartridge changes without screwing anything in. You can find current prices in the price comparison for the CCELL Sandwave.

Draw activation: no button, direct inhale
The CCELL Sandwave has no on/off switch and no activation button. Drawing on the cartridge mouthpiece triggers the power flow. This is more convenient than button-operated batteries and feels more intuitive, especially for users switching from a disposable pen.
The downside of draw-activated systems: there is no way to lock the device. In a pocket or backpack, accidental pressure on the cartridge can trigger an unwanted draw. If you want to avoid that, you should unscrew the cartridge before transport or use a protective case.
Research context: A study in the Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences (Hazekamp et al., 2006) showed that vaporisation at controlled temperatures releases more than 95 % of the desired active compounds, while largely avoiding combustion by-products. Source: PubMed 16637053
Three voltage levels via sliding switch
The sliding switch on the side of the Sandwave changes between 2.8 V, 3.2 V and 3.6 V. These are three practical ranges for different cartridge types and oil consistencies.
- 2.8 V - low setting for thin oils and flavour-sensitive cartridges. Less vapour, more flavour.
- 3.2 V - medium setting, suitable for most standard 510 carts. A good balance between vapour output and temperature.
- 3.6 V - high setting for thicker concentrates or carts with higher resistance. More vapour, stronger hit.
The slider can also be felt and operated by touch, without needing to look at the device.
Magnetic drop-in 510 connection
Instead of screwing in the cartridge, the Sandwave can use a magnetic adapter. The cartridge clicks into place magnetically and stays secure without using the thread. Swapping takes seconds.
The maximum diameter for compatible cartridges is 11.5 mm. Standard 510 carts fit without any problem. The viewing window on the back of the device shows the cartridge fill level without needing to remove it. It is a small but practical detail for everyday use.
Battery, charging and dimensions
The built-in battery has a capacity of 400 mAh. That is enough for a reasonable number of draws between charges - exactly how many depends heavily on the cartridge and the selected voltage. Charging is via USB-C, which is compatible with modern charging cables.
The Sandwave measures 60 × 38 × 16 mm and is light enough to slip easily into any pocket. The flat, rectangular design with its distinctive silicone wave texture gives the device a secure grip and helps prevent slipping. The market price is around 20 Euro.
Who is the CCELL Sandwave suitable for?
The CCELL Sandwave is aimed at users who already use 510 cartridges and are looking for a reliable, affordable battery. CCELL is one of the best-known manufacturers in the 510 segment, and the Sandwave represents the core of its product line: simple, compact, functional.
The device is not a beginner product for vaping in general, but a specialised tool for cartridges. If you want to vaporise dry herbs, you need a different device. If you want a straightforward battery for your carts, the Sandwave is a proven no-frills option. More CCELL products are listed on the CCELL brand page.
